LONGMONT, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Longmont are trying to figure out how a toddler got her hands on marijuana that made her sick.
Two year old Evelyn tested positive for pot and ended up in the hospital but her mother doesnt know how the child came into contact with the now-legal drug.
Evelyns mother, Aida Hernandez, believes the child ate part of a cookie she found on the ground in the grass outside of their apartment.
It was brown, like a chocolate chip cookie, said Hernandez.

Yeah right. Mama left her damn “cookies” out and the kid ate one.
Is this woman legally in the US?
Probably not.
It will no longer be cool...but just stupid.
"Hey let's rip off the stoned kid...he won't know the difference. He won't even remember."
This story is about a 2-year old. If you are fine with giving it to 2 year olds you are off the edge of common sense and reason
Apples and oranges. Pot plants don’t explode or give off toxic fumes.
as for it destroying lives, well theres thousands of people who probably are using it now and have used it and are still more productive and successful than anyone here on FR.

I wouldn’t count on it.
Maybe she has visitors who are users. Like a boyfriend. The kid didn’t head off to the local marijuana store and I don’t believe the kid picked up a cookie off the lawn. LOL
My lab is closely monitered and down wind of the neighbors.........
Maybes are endless so I guess you can believe whichever ones you want to believe. lol
For sure. For example, posting all of the ABSURD anecdotal stories now coming along that FReepers with an agenda can tout as Gospel truth... is a sickness borne from ignorance! Marijuana is not toxic. NOT TOXIC*!
What symptoms did the child exhibit that caused this testing for marijuana? Drowsiness? Craving for Doritos? Turning up the volume on the drum solo from "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida"?
Ignorance abounds from all of the FReeper drug warriors that show up on these threads. They should all band together and dress up in black, arm themselves with automatic weapons and knock down a few doors. Don't forget to shoot a few dogs along the way!
Meanwhile, suck up another beer or two!
*Toxic means being poison and the ability to cause death. No one has ever died from smoking pot. You can check the hospital records yourself. Pot is not toxic.
Plants don’t require such diligent maintenance. Still apples and oranges.
I don’t like ants.
So are unexplained. I would figure a two year old would be accompanied by an adult outside. If I was watching a two year old, I would not allow the baby to eat a cookie off the lawn. If that is the case, I would figure that the child was not being properly watched.
Ain’t no skin off my nose anyway, so I won’t argue it.
I’m a guy who has never had any kids so I can’t speak to keeping an eye on two year old kids. Perhaps some FReeper mommies can weigh in on the ease or difficulty of that. Actually some already have.
Don’t Bogart that ant, my FRiend...
She’s 2. Where’s her mother when she’s outside picking up cookies off the lawn and eating them?
I was standing a field in North Carolina in 1986. I felt a sharp sting and looked down to see a fire ant chewing on my leg. That was 27 years ago. The spot on my leg is where it bit me. It is a permanent dead area of sin and flesh on my leg...
I am surely a sinner, but forgiven by the Grace of God through Jesus Christ!
Yikes! I’m not a fan of ants either. Thankfully I’ve never encountered fire ants.
If someone (especially a child) got poisoned bad enough, perhaps it is proper to investigate what happened and who could be responsible. Some houses are not safe to live in.
With regard to "would the cops search the house to verify the story," this is an excellent illustration of the well known YouTube lecture called "Don't talk to cops." The mother made a statement that the substance is not in the house. This turned it into a testable theory!
