Former Canadian defence minister claims aliens refuse to share technology because of Earth’s wars...

Former Canadian defence minister Paul Hellyer, the so-called highest-ranked alien believer on Earth, says that extraterrestrials live among us and they refuse to share their advanced technology due to wars and pollution.

Hellyer, who was a Liberal defence minister from 1963 to 1967 under prime minister Lester B. Pearson, went public with his belief in aliens on earth in 2005.

Hellyer, 90, told Russia Today last week that he believes there are 80 different species of extraterrestrials, some of whom “look just like us and they could walk down the street and you wouldn’t know if you walked past one.

These stories are always hilarious.

The aliens among us always turn out to be mentally 2014 Western liberals.

If aliens actually showed up, of course, they'd be alien.

Which would probably mean their goals, values and motivations would be difficult for us to even understand.

This same stuff goes on in books, movies, etc. about the past and, usually, other cultures. The leading characters are invariably mentally indistinguishable from faculty of any European or American university.

This is very boring.

Two mini-series that I think did a good job of portraying different ways of thinking and value systems.

Shogun portrayed two very different cultures and ways of thinking, from each other and from us. 1600s Europeans and 1600s Japanese.

Borgia, the Tom Fontana version. While wildly historically inaccurate, this miniseries does an excellent job of portraying how different people were back then.

Not any different than believing in Al Gore's Global Warming scam or promises made by Obama and his Democrats. They are all equally looney.

Hellyer is lame. The movie “They Live” with Rowdy Roddy Piper has the same basic plot.

Right. Ever hear of relativity?

General Relativity is the current leading theory, and is consistent with observations.

There was a time when that was true of Newtonian physics. There was a time when it was true of Aristotle.

I do not mean to call Einstein's theory into question; the man was brilliant and, as far as we can tell, correct. However, I don't think even Einstein would have said that General Relativity would be the last word in physics. There may be a time in the future in which we think of Einstein the same way we think of Newton.

I guess you have to have a pair of special glasses...

And, as to your reference to "angels", I think that's closer to the truth. Demonic entities used to manifest as "fairy folk", goblins, elves, gremlins, etc.

Now that we're so much more "enlightened", they appear as aliens.

" I wanna tell you something, something you do not yet know, that we K-PAXians have been around long enough to have discovered. The universe will expand, then it will collapse back on itself, then will expand again. It will repeat this process forever. What you don't you know is that when the universe expands again, everything will be as it is now. Whatever mistakes you make this time around, you will live through on your next pass. Every mistake you make, you will live through again, & again, forever. So my advice to you is to get it right this time around. Because this time is all you have."

Given our present obvious inability to understand what the true underlying Laws of Nature are, it seems absurd to me to proclaim that we “know” they impose an Eternal Speed Limit.

I'd have to agree with you on that. Personally, I doubt the Cosmic Speed Limit is absolute, or there isn't a way to scoot around it.

If mankind is ultimately intended to survive as a species, either FTL travel is possible, or zero point energy is accessible. At minimum, one of these two conditions have to be true.

Alpha Centauri, our nearest star, is 165,000 years from here at the fastest speeds we’re capable of. Even at the speed of light, it would take 4.3 years to get there, and according to our best science, we’d have to contend with the relativistic effects of infinite mass and the need for infinite energy to move our mass. Warp engines are a pipe dream.

SETI has been listening for decades for any sign of intelligent life “out there,” and has utterly failed to do so. If intelligent life is as common in the universe as the Sagans of the world claim it is, there’s zero evidence of it. It appears that life is a rarity in the universe, and the only place we KNOW it to exist is here. That’s the case, of course, because abiogenesis is laughably impossible.

Kay: "All right, kid, here's the deal. At any given time there are approximately 1,500 aliens on the planet, most of them right here in Manhattan. And most of them are decent enough, they're just trying to make a living."

Jay: "Cab drivers?"

Kay: "Not as many as you'd think."

Right. Ever hear of relativity? That means that the faster you go, the slower time goes, so that time outside of your spaceship could be elapsing at a rate several times faster than inside the ship. So, we are to believe that extraterrestrials would be willing to travel countless light-years, while everyone they knew on their home planet gets old and dies, just so that they can play practical jokes on us earthlings?

Folding dimensions would allow critters to travel instantaneously vast (3D) distances. The constraint would be the amount of power to fold the dimension for larger and larger distances.

The extra terrestrials next door to us still haven’t picked up the 500 beer cans out of their backyard from New Years rockin Eve.
