How do you get a room at the uber-luxurious and exclusive Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York City for less than $20 a night? If you are Tony and Jo Fioravante, 86 and 85, respectively, you simply hold on to the original receipt from your stay there 66 years ago. The Staten Island couple will celebrate their 66 th wedding anniversary Sunday the same way they spent their wedding night, with a stay at the Waldorf Astoria. The couple, who kept their original receipt from 1948, will also pay the same rate for their room at the exclusive Towers of the Waldorf on Park Avenue, a whopping $15.75. Hotel rates now start at $799 for suites and $1,299 for presidential-style suites.

NYC’s Waldorf Astoria isn’t in Astoria but Astoria, Queens IS in NYC!(Or something like that)

Queens is indeed still in NYC, but I’m pretty sure the Waldorf-Asoria of legend has always been in Manhattan, which is not part of Queens.

...at the uber-luxurious and exclusive Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York City

The Waldorf is living off its past glory. The Blackstone folks have been draining the Waldorf brand for all they can and the hotel is tired and worn. A few minutes reading the comments on Trip Adviser and you'll think twice about dropping that kind of bank on a room at the Waldorf when there are so many better options.

We stayed there over Thanksgiving and it was obvious that the owners are taking cash out of the property and putting nothing in. It's sad, because at one time this was an exceptional hotel.

We often think on negative things. That is quite frequent here on FR, sadly (but often necessarily) to deal with Satanic effects woven into our current world system.

In fact, there are warnings not to dewell on these negative factors too much lest it causes them to materialize. One reason for classical art and music is to help us to focus our spiritual dimension in overpowering chaos, filth, and death.

This is exactly why we need, for example, to keep the wisely added phrase--"under God"--to our Pledge of Allegiance; and "In God We Trust" (in the sense of a continuous, ongoing process) on our coinage.

Down with soul-shattering atheistic negativism, and raise the glorious standard of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob high above that poor imitation of the Allah of Islam, who had no Son!

> Obviously some prices go up more than others and some times prices go down. In the early 80’s a PC could cost thousands, the newfangled “internet” might cost $5 an hour, even though it could take hours to download a whole newspapers worth of articles

I do remember the old 300 baud rate modems and going online to BBS’s. Thay and 4K RAM in a TRS80 conputer from RadioShack when pople used to think I was smart because I knew how to use one. Now 5 year olds are using them...sigh....lol
