Nearly 1.7 million WWII veterans are living today, and the Honor Flight Network exists to make sure they are not forgotten. Since 2005, this nonprofit organization has flown nearly 100,000 service members to visit the World War II memorial in Washington, D.C.

Thanks to the Honor Flight folks for undertaking this honorable task. One of my former work mates (and a vet) and his wife have been honored to accompany our WWII vets on a couple of separate occasions and were glad they did. From FL it's usually a one day event up and back the same day. They had the local constabulary escort them with lights and sirens to and from the airport. Nice.
