I discovered that show a few years back and it was good fare. RIP Alexandra.
RIP.
Darn. Sorry to hear this. I liked the series “The Champions” quite a lot. Didn’t really see it until recent years, when it came out on dvd, but it turned out to be a really enjoyable surprise. Sort of comic-booky, but in the good sense of the description. It was aired in America in the summer of 1968, I believe. I often suspected it didn’t make it because it was a pretty violent show, and that’s when (after the ‘68 assassinations), the networks started toning things down. Things like “Wild Wild West” and even “Star Trek” really seemed pressured. “Gunsmoke” too.
Dang, she was a fine looking lass back in the day.
One thing I liked about her in “The Champions” was that she played things nice and low-key. Not broad or self-conscious. Nice and comported. Maybe that was her nature, or maybe she just didn’t have confidence in her acting abilities. I don’t know. But it ultimately made her actually rather endearing in her role.
It’s something you don’t really see nowadays in modern actresses. Almost akin to a quiet demureness.
I think she was my first TV crush at about the age of 9 - she was beautiful and classy! God Bless her!
