"12 Years a Slave" went into the 71st Golden Globe Awards on Sunday night with seven nominations but was passed over again and again. That is, until the last award of the evening, and arguably the best of them all. The harrowing portrayal of slavery in America took home the prize for best drama of 2013.
But the evening's biggest victor was David O. Russell's Abscam-inspired comedy, "American Hustle." It won three trophies during the three-hour ceremony that aired on NBC from the Beverly Hilton, including for best musical or comedy, best actress for Amy Adams and best supporting actress for Jennifer Lawrence.
On the TV side, "Breaking Bad" won for drama series, "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" for comedy series and "Behind the Candelabra" won for miniseries or TV movie.

I watched about three minutes before turning off the tv in disgust. What a bunch of self-promoting, self-aggrandizing, vulgar, worthless creeps.
They can bestow all the awards they want to on one another, I could care less. Plus, I very very rarely watch tv or a movie.
Does anyone give themselves more awards than the Hollywood crowd? What is the award show next weekend?
You watched more of it than I did. I have no desire to see Hollywood's pro-Obama, uber-liberal socialist contingent patting each other on the backs.

The appeal of the GGs is to fans of awards shows...not to actual movie fans.
I saw a few minutes of Tina Fey and that blonde girl telling jokes about masturbation and plastic genitals and sleeping with your limo driver. I can’t believe how disgusting these Hollywood idiots are.
We might all disagree about what should be allowed and what should be censored. Bit I think we would all agree that the masturbation jokes should.not be on TV. And that masturbation jokes would not have been permitted years ago.
I thought the Golden Globes was the porn industries awards show.
I was slow to grab the remote.
16 million watched in America alone. It does not get Owcar ratings, but decent ratings.
That's pretty big, in line or above with what the highest rated weeknight prime time shows do.
