A retired police captain shot and killed one moviegoer who was texting and wounded his wife on Monday in a Florida theater showing the hit new war film "Lone Survivor," authorities said. Doug Tobin, a spokesman for the Pasco Sheriff's Office, said the shooter, identified by local media as 71-year-old Curtis Reeves, was waiting for the film to begin with his wife when they got into an argument with another couple in the row of seats directly in front during the previews. At some point, Reeves brandished a gun and shot both Chad Oulson, who was texting, and his wife Nichole Oulson, the Sheriff's department told CNN...........

Cops are far more likely to commit murder than CCW holders.

Well, they don’t allow dogs in movie theaters, so his options were limited.

So much for the mantra that retired police should have special possess/carry privileges above and beyond those of other citizens.

The news account says the wife put her hand up in front of her husband to shield him from the bullet.
To: cripplecreek
The ex-cop shot the guy. The wifes hand was on her husbands chest.

Reeves asked Chad Oulson, 43, to stop texting several times, and left the theater before returning to his seat, Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco said. The argument began after Oulson asked Reeves if he had reported him to theater staff for using his phone, he said. Sounds like Oulson was being deliberately rood, but I dont think that texting during the coming attractions trailers is a capital offence.
It doesnt say if Reeves had reported Oulson for use of his cell phone but I think there would have been a better out come to this confrontation if Reeves had reported Oulson to theater management and they had done something.
Apparently Reeves has forgotten everything he was ever taught as an LEO about conflict resolution.

If he was a retired cop, he is home free then. All he has to say is, “I was in fear of my life.”

Another clear cut case of Legal Murder.....not something you will find in any law book or code of statues but a very real thing. Only badge monkeys are allowed the option of committing Legal Murder. Anyone else is arrested and charged. If one pays attention to the news Legal Murder of a mere citizen by a badgemonkey happens almost every single day in America.

Sounds reasonable to me... Texting in a movie theater is so obnoxious...
