How was bridge closing supposed to hurt mayor?

Posted on 01/14/2014 8:03:09 AM PST by 429CJ

I don't understand something about the Chris Cristy/bridge thing. The lanes were closed supposedly to get revenge on the mayor of the small town for not endorsing Cristy. But HOW was that supposed to hurt him? Was it believed that the citizens of that town would blame the mayor for the traffic mess? One would assume that they knew that highway problems would not be his fault. It seems like vandalizing your next door neighbor's car to get revenge on the man across the street. What am I missing here?

Were the lanes closed by traffic cones or Jersey barriers? Cones wouldn’t take heavy construction crews.

If there were cones, those might be, ahem, nudged, crushed, flung, so possibly North Jersey drivers are more patient and rule-abiding than I knew.

It didn't hurt the mayor. It annoyed him. That is all that is required for the moment. Some kind of payback is required in any situation where a lesser pol doesn't jump to the bigger pol's tune. It may not appear to hurt but sserves as a warning. Sometimes a bridge gets closed, sometimes a car blows up or hits a tree or maybe a pet gets pơisoned. Something unpleasant has to happen. You must live in a small town or rurally if this is all such a mystery to you.

Twin Cities. I don’t blame the mayor of the adjacent city for problems on a freeway. I don’t know anyone who does.

The GWB lane closures were in September. The park and monument closures were in October. So the DNC geniuses in your theory were able to see the future?

You really don’t think politicians can be petty, do you? They are all noble servants of the Republic, right?

The question is how did closing the lanes on the bridge hurt the mayor.

Question not answered by you.

It obviously did not work and actually backfired adding stupidity and incompetence to what was already petty abuse of power, misallocation of resources and childish vindictiveness.

It did not hurt the mayor. It was to annoy him and to warn him. How is that not an answer? opr did you have a particular answer in mind that the interlocutee must give to be an answer? in which case I am sorry , I could not possibly know the particular words you require.

maybe some of the crony-capitalist RINOS among Christies top aids actually understood the lane closures would be a net political positive for the mayor, as no one but no one locally thinks, or would have thought, any of it was under his control

we learned months ago, in other circumstances, where our political opponents were made part of soome GOP staff - like the fornmer Soros open borders guy who became a top staffer to Rubio’s staff

maybe there are such “moles” who went with Christie just to get his confidence, not that they cared one twit about any policy position of his - maybe they will be seen in the months ahead joining those rooting for Billary

well; we can be paranoid can’t we? /LOL

So the DNC geniuses in your theory were able to see the future?

Did this 'closure' get media attention back in September, or after October ?
