women's Olympic hockey team has been ordered to remove an image from the United States Constitution from her helmet.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) considers the image to be 'propoganda,' and forbids it.
Goalie Jessie Vetter has been told to remove the image, particularly the line "We the People," her name and the Olympic rings.
"No writings of any kind to promote the country is allowed," helmet designer Ron Slater tells InGoal magazine. "A sort of 'our country is better than your country' kind of thing that the IOC frowns upon. Her name had to come off because they see it as self-promotion. They wanted everything to be team-based
Our original idea was 'land of the free, home of the brave,' and that would have had to have been removed as well."

The issue isn’t “symbols” (the Statue of Liberty, bald eagle, etc. are staying), but writings. In practice, the IOC generally doesn’t allow any writings of any kind on an Olympian’s uniform, other than the country name.
Well, maybe that’s the point, for opponents closing in for a goal shot?
Lordy do you not recognize sarcasm when you read it???
If you were on the ice you wouldn't even notice it........
or "Your country sucks"

So, we won't be tabulating medal counts any more? In fact, why are we discriminating by athletic ability at all? That's so mean spirited. Let's give everyone a gold medal. And we should stop with keeping records. That's so anti-self-esteem and cruel to the slower and weaker.
Cheezy Cheevers!
I wondered how long he’d stay in Buffalo. We enjoyed watching him when we lived there. Now that Lindy Ruff is the coach for the Stars, I guess we’ll watch more after Superbowl.
Tell them to pack sand.
Warren Skorodenski’s “skull” mask was pretty much the high point of form-fitting mask art.
Unfortunately, the early 80s Vancouver Canucks uniform he’s wearing makes the rest of him look like a softball player.
Miller “just” got unlucky with one goal by Sindy Crosby at the Olympics. He’s itching to even the score..
I can think of any number of worthy slogans for this purpose...
I recall overhearing some trash talking on TV and no punishment was issued to the athlete.
Yeah or CCCP or even USA on their uniforms. This is a bogus decision.
Actually in the old days you couldn’t show commercial logos, even a small one. I have this gnawing suspicion that Nike or someone like that is behind this.
I’m sorry, but if they’re not allowed to promote their country, then why do we get all the totals showing which country has won the most medals?
Why do they play the national anthems of the winners if they’re not promoting the countries?
