Colorado shop owners can't keep marijuana edibles in stock

Colorado residents may wind up with "pot bellies" if they keep filling up on marijuana edibles at this pace.

Ever since recreational marijuana sales began in the state on Jan. 1, many shop owners said they have been unable to keep pot-infused candies, cookies and sodas in stock.

"Edibles have been really huge with the recreational market," Linda Andrews, owner of LoDo Wellness Center in Denver, told ABCNews.com. "They're great if you're not a [marijuana] connoisseur and you want something more palatable," she said. "And they are certainly more discreet."

Andrews estimates edible sales are up 300 percent at her store, which previously only served medical marijuana patients.

Don't get me wrong about supporting pot - I don't. However, if Colorado can do this without Holder coming down on them, then I take this to set a precedence regarding State nullification against the Fedgov largess, which I'm all for. If it takes a few potheads, so be it.

BTW, most pot users eventually gave it up. I'm a child of the 60's and know what I'm talking about. Very few went on to harder drugs and most just gave it up for Jack Daniels or a real life.

The left doesn’t care about drugs, they need them really. “Brave New World”. Legalizing drugs will help them bring tyranny to this country

Maybe all of the dopers and free loaders in America will move to Colorado for its full benefits.

No, they're not going to do that. What they will do is start passing similar laws across the rest of the country.

"The establishment of sanctuary cities comes to mind."

Yup, and the Fedgov does nothing about that. Which proves my point about State nullification. We don't need a 2nd Revolution, just need enough States to tell the Fedgov to shove it. But then how many States want to lose their Fedgov funds? Well, those who don't increase Medicaid were told by the Roberts ruling they can't be punished. The only good thing to come out of that ruling.

Kinda looks like it's building because of the Obambicare fiasco. Numerous States are either passing laws or in the process of nullifying Obama, Reid, Pelosi commie take over of our health care system.

Please don't bother me with the Fedgov using the military as many suggest would happen. NO ONE has the heart nor cojones for a Civil War. It's all politics and public relations, which Obamacare is losing.

"Yeah, you would think the feds would not want such a precedent set, that could be used in court in other cases, where a state might decide to ignore a federal law."

Right. More States are going to use the above and what can Holder say? I think he like Obambi will mealy mouth platitudes and say they are looking into it. That will be all you hear since they are in favor of anything against our moral principles and have NO Constitutional standing. That will be a good thing for some States!

"This tolerance policy will end if the fedgov perceives abuses (e.g. sales near schools). And they are watching closely. This situation is a lot different from "Federal Law Nullification"."

The Fedgov may look at schools and age requirements, but other than that, I don't think they give a damn. Our Fedgov is now run by hippies.

You really believe that? Colorado has passed a law that essentially nullifies Fedgov law in their State. Have you heard of Holder's DOJ actually suing them as yet?

When he does, I will agree with you. Until then, Colorado has gone against Fedgov law and so far has not experienced any penalties. And yes, I happy about Colorado saying up yours to Fedgov even if it means some 18 year olds can get high on pot. So what? They do it every day with alcohol.

I’ve been around a heck of a lot of people who have an occasional beer, glass of wine, or spirit because they enjoy the taste around a meal or while at a social event. Rarely do I see rational people get high let alone drunk. Except for the very rare medical need, dope smoking is for getting screwed up.

Great idea!

We could start with Obamacare and then move right on to the Internal Revenue Code!

Then, we could . . . the mind fairly boggles!

I love it!

The problem is that many court decisions over the decades have negated the simple Constitutional "Intent", through lawyers convoluted arguments.

However, the time seems right for the States to take back their "individual" power because of this over-reach of Obamacare. With enough support behind those States, we can reverse the bad decisions of the USSC going way back.

The only good thing to come out of the Roberts ruling is that the States that don't want to increase Medicaid, CANNOT be punished monetarily by the Fedgov withholding funds. That was a huge States' Rights win. It set a precedence that can be used for other matters.

Perhaps We the People can use The Cloward–Piven strategy to overload the U.S. Justice Department and precipitate a crisis that would lead to the Justice Department being unable to cope?

How many states would it take? 10? 20? 25?

I think we can break the back of this Federal Beast if we stick together and push back!

What we conservatives MUST DO is throw the LIEberal tactics back at them in spades, bring our guns to their knife fight, so to speak.

"The people who use it are losers."

As I teenager of the 60's I smoked pot (didn't inhale...haha) and I joined the US Navy at 25. I was meritoriously advance from E-4 to E-5 on my first ship as a flight deck airdale. Did a 3 year tour in Rota, Spain and advanced to E-6 while working Shore Patrol.

Did an under-cover narcotics bust for NIS (now NCIS) in Gibraltar. Then went black shoe to a Frigate and other duty stations. I earned a commendation for my recruiting efforts at North Island, San Diego for exceeding my quotas. I advance as quickly as possible while starting as an E-1. Have all the papers in my garage taking up space.

After 11 years Navy I got out and took over a company that had potential and made it highly profitable. I retired in 1997 after owning 3 different businesses, one of which was majority owned by a guy who used to "drop the ball at midnight" and not Ryan Seacrest. What's the date today? Think I'm a loser for having smoked pot?

Marijuana is so over-rated as the demon weed. However, crack and such is life destroying.

Apples and oranges. Get a grip. Yes, it can be a gateway drug for some few, but so can alcohol. I love my Captain Morgan's rum. Still, I can deal with anything you challenge me with and so can occasional pot smokers. As long as they don't smoke and drive, why should you care? Hell, alcoholics are much more prone to giving you shit. Go to a rowdy bar sometime. I've been in a few bar fights because of alcohol dipshits. Even have a scar on my forehead. Pot smokers have NO interest in hurting others. Wise up and let them mellow.

I'm thinking 20 States...maybe 15 who would nullify Obamacare and cause such a crisis. There are already 10 States (the last I read) who are pushing their legislatures to nullify Obamacare. A couple have pushed the legislation through and it awaits the Governors' signature. Think Louisiana and Georgia. South Carolina is working towards it as is Oregon (stangely enough being liberal). Nevada, with the ultimate commie Reid, is also working towards it if I remember correctly.

Yes, State nullification is our last best hope. Support you local Governor. Tell him you want your original health care system. If he says no, then tell him there are better ways to insure, such as cross-state policies and tort reform to start.

If there was ever an original Constitutional intent about interstate commerce clause that made sense, this is exactly that. This is what the Founding Fathers meant, and no, not the Founding Forefathers as some recent politico said (can't remember which). Sheesh. Can't believe we have such inarticulate morons running our government.

Yes, I believe that also. However it's a Catch 22. If the TEA Party organizes into one solid entity, if will be seen as detriment to the GOP supporters, and as a rogue operation by the Dims and MSM. If it stays as individual units, it has no power.

What say you? I say they find a strong no holds barred leader that will never waiver from our Conservative beliefs. Since he or she will not be running for office, they can say anything that us Constitutionalists believe in. My only thought is although I abhor abortion, it is the third rail of politics and suggest such a leader try to avoid that issue.

Other than that, make the points of how USA capitalism has benefited the entire world (point by point - spell it out); we fought for our and others' freedoms (historically we're the good guys); socialism and communism has Never ever worked and always devolved into oppression (give examples); self-responsibility is about being an honorable man or woman who accept their own future; racism is dead except for those who make money off it; Utopia is an unattainable dream since there will always be unfairness as long as bad people exist; et al..............

"Legalizing drugs will help them bring tyranny to this country."

Oh, just stop. We're talking about pot and not about crack cocaine. You usually make sense, but your above is ridiculous. So some kids smoke pot, so what as long they don't drive? Rather them drink Jack and get smashed to where they think they can do anything and kill you on the road? I've known many potheads and the most they want to do is listen to music and hang and satisfy their munchies.

As I said above, it can be a gateway drug, but that is a very few, and those are so inclined anyway that many bypass pot and go right to other drugs. Most potheads are just dumbasses who eventually grow out of it, or get so paranoid about getting busted they just stop.

Again, I'm a child of the 60's. I've seen it all.

***********
If neighboring states within a region (or multiple regions) simply would agee with one another to ignore onerous and overreaching federal dictates, that would be a powerful rejection of attempts to trample state soverignty. On a state by state basis, you get an appearance of fractured resistance but when a block of states bond and cooperate together they will have more impact and it would send a strong message to Washington DC. Resistance can be a game changer.

I see you use the relativism approach to alcohol. There is in fact no reason to consume it yet you support it but condemn other forms of unnecessary drugs.
