You no longer need to be a spy like James Bond to get your hands on an amphibious car.

David March has designed the world’s fastest Jeep-style vehicle that can be driven straight from the land into the water and goes from a car to a boat in just 15 seconds.

Called the Panther, the vehicle can reach water speeds of up to 45 mph—almost as fast as an average speedboat—and is fitted with a custom-made 3.7 liter V6 engine, fiberglass hull and lightweight chromoly steel chassis. …

'The thrilling acceleration is provided by a Honda V6 V-Tec motor. You can leave the highway behind thanks to its long travel off road suspension and travel in the water courtesy of the panther jet.
never did like Roger Moore, this vehicle is KEWL.

Ted Kennedy changed his car to a submarine in 10 seconds flat, and that was back in the 60s!

Not quite a submarine. The going under water part is easy. Any ship car) can do that....once. It’s the coming back up under your own power, that’s the tricky part.

fta... the vehicle can reach water speeds of up to 45 mph—almost as fast as an average speedboat...

I have friends that fish in professional bass tournaments. Their boats can run around 70mph on a calm lake surface, as they want to get to their favorite honey holes as quickly as possible.

Guess Brits figure 45mph is fast for a “speedboat”.

If I win the Lottery I’ll buy one for me, my brother and a friend.

We’ll ride these things all over eastern Oklahoma.,

I can think of at least 100 fishing spots and 5 or 6 lakes we could be awesome on.

I got a couple spots that aren’t 6 feet deep and a hundred yrds from shore.

No more lugging that rust bucket behind us, unload and load...

One ride in and out.

Couldn’t the East German Trablant (excuse spelling?) be used as an amphibious vehicle of sorts?

I used to have a bass boat that would hit 90 mph with ease. Probably could top 100 mph, but not with me in it. I sold that hoss when gas prices hit $2.50. Now I have a much slower smaller bass boat.

If it splashes, the crane operator messed up.

The Escape Pod's first splash, 1993. Suffolk, VA, Nansemond River. There is now a Hyatt hotel on this spot.

There is a guy who fishes Lake Travis on a regular basis. He has a Boston Whaler with twin 250 HP outboards. I asked him why, and he said he also fishes offshore and you do not want to be miles out and your one engine fails. Makes sense now why so many have twin engines.

He said the speedometer quits registering at 92 or 93 MPH when it is up on the pad and only the lower units are still in the water. 45 MPH - pfffft on the Brits.
