Decades ago, comedians used to perform a parody of an overly romantic couple calling each other’s name over and over, (John!,,,Mary!,,,,John!,,,,Mary!) and so on. Maybe this script is what that was based on. Even as a kid, I could tell they were purposely overacting; Carol Burnett style.
