Neil Young Doubles Down on the Crazy
PJMedia ^ | 1/21/2014 | Kathy Shaidle

Last September, I wrote about rocker Neil Young’s bizarre, factually challenged — and slanderous — criticisms of Canada’s oil sands.

For instance, Young compared resource town Fort McMurray to Hiroshima. This is kind of unfair to Fort McMurray, which, while verdant and pleasant, has nowhere near as many skyscrapers and neon signs as that Japanese city.

Young made those and other foolish remarks while traveling across Canada in his $1-million Volt/Lincoln Continental hybrid.

Another typical uber rich entertainer re-enforcing the asshattery prevalent in hollywierd. "Don't need him 'round anyhow."

“Neil Young has a monstrous tour bus. And, when he had his Canadian concerts, he had five such buses, all burning diesel, all idling while the concert was on.”

“Neil Young’s ‘Lincvolt’ claims to be environmentally sound” but it actually requires a team of chase vehicles full of mechanics to follow it around, in case it breaks down (which it does a lot — when it isn’t catching on fire, causing about $1-million in damages.)

“In 1974, the band Lynyrd Skynryd wrote the song, Sweet Home Alabama in response to Southern Man The lyrics to the song leave little doubt as to the band’s reaction, ...Well, I heard Mister Young sing about her Well, I heard ole Neil put her down. Well, I hope Neil Young will remember a southern man don’t need him around anyhow...”

Interestingly, band member Ronnie Van Zant, who died in a 1977 plane crash, dismissed the purported feud with Young in a 1977 interview stating, “We wrote Alabama as a joke. We didn’t even think about it - the words just came out that way. We just laughed like hell, and said ‘Ain’t that funny’... We love Neil Young, we love his music...” “

“Lynyrd Skynyrd frontman Johnny Van Zant was bummed when Mitt Romney didn’t get elected. But that’s not keeping him away from Washington on the weekend of President Barack Obama’s inauguration.

“Of course I was hoping that we’d have a Republican, that we’d put a guy in there that has run a business,” Van Zant, who endorsed Romney over the summer, told POLITICO. “...But you know what, I’m behind Obama now. He’s our president, and any American who goes against our president should be deported out of the country.”

Van Zant and his band are playing at the Heroes Red, White & Blue Inaugural Concert Ball at the Warner Theatre on Sunday.

The show came about, oddly enough, by way of the Republican National Convention. Lynyrd Skynyrd was scheduled to play an RNC concert for the group Citizens Helping Heroes in August, but the event was canceled because of Hurricane Isaac. So Sunday’s show, sponsored by the same military support group, was planned instead.”

I read his book. Creatively, he’s burnt out. Don’t expect much from him in the future.

“I read his book. Creatively, he’s burnt out. Don’t expect much from him in the future.”

I would be surprised if that mattered one iota to those who think of themselves as fans. I’m probably going on about 30 years not caring about him!

Neil Young don't sing for Miller, he don't sing for Bud.

He don't sing for politicians, he don't sing for spuds.

Neil sings for Tides' commies and he sings for Saudi oil sheiks.

"I read his book. Creatively, he’s burnt out."

I found his book interesting, but was able to read it in just an hour or so at the library (never could grasp the connection with Rick James - talk about strange bed-fellows).
Great song-writer, but a whack-job like most of them.

The remarks aren’t “foolish”. A leftist without his Lies has no argument.

Interesting links provided. Thank you. Some of us, unlike Ronnie, don’t just roll over quite that easy as noted in your other post. Simply amazed at what some folks will do to get up close to the “lyin’ king” and his mate.

Most who enjoyed Neil Young’s music never paid much attention to his politics. Its pretty much SOP for musicians to be liberal, especially ones from the Frozen North.

After all these years of “connective” lyrics and tunes, add on most of us his age have slowed down, its time to enjoy again the mountain of tell it like it is “guy” music and turn our deaf ear to his silly liberal politics.

FUJVZ. If your brother was alive today he’d kick your ass for such idiotic belief.
