Five reasons to quit Facebook

In no particular order:

It’s just one more place on the Internet for your “friends” to pick fights with you. Make a joke. Express an opinion. Utter a simple statement of fact. Doesn’t matter. Somebody who at one point expressly asked to be your “friend” will harangue you about it. They’re as dumb as YouTube commenters, except they’ve specifically asked to be part of your life.

His first complaint is basically that he’s friends with a bunch of annoying argumentative people which won’t really change if he quits FB. And the rest is mostly him not using the settings correctly.

Facebook is far more politically informative than FR. I use it to keep in touch with family and friends AND to promote issues of importance to me. I also follow many fine conservatives. Ted Cruz, Sarah Palin, Allen West, Herman Cain, Victoria Jackson, etc all do a fine job of informing and educating. My pet subjects are the Constitution, 2nd Amendment, Pro-life and defeating and lambasting liberals. Also, follow a host of tea party organizations.

Facebook, like Google, Apple, Microsoft and other business and non-business giants, has been invented so people with too much love in their lives have something to hate. It works perfectly. Like a charm.

I quit. It was a long process, but it can be done.

I follow most of those people on Twitter. Twitter is useful to me in more ways than I can count. And I hope that the feeling is mutual for those who follow me.
LinkedIn hasn’t done much for me so far but I keep hoping.
Pinterest is just fun, more so for women.
There are several literary sites I like, including librarything and goodreads. Bookcrossing also has some social media features if you like that sort of thing. I was a little sorry to see goodreads sell out to amazon.

Facebook and twitter are the two stupidest things ever thought of.

Could there be a less manly (or more unmanly) sounding act than to tweet on twitter?

I stumbled across my “yearbook” from bootcamp at GLNTC in ‘67 out there on the web.

I still have mine from 1961, Company 357. It is a bit tattered. I think I'll search for it online.

I agree 100%. I have found it is a great way to keep up with family and friends. All are Christian Conservatives. I had 2 liberal friends. I unfriended one because I did not want to read her liberal junk and the other unfriended me because I said something bad about her leader. Do not really miss either. When I was going through a really bad time recently, it was FB friends support which really helped me. They have known me for many years so they knew what to say or verses, etc to send me. FB is what you make it not someone else. We may not have seen each other in years but when we do, it is like it was way back when. I find it interesting that a certain women’s list has really been sending posts to support three females for office including WD in Texas. I read what some have to say and the majority complain about it coming to their feed. I enjoy FB.

I wish I was the “stupid” guy who thought up those “stupid” websites. I’d then be wiping my stupid ass with $100 bills...

Yeah, I still have mine and if I remember correctly, they list the available ones by year. I was Company 380. Managed to get out of chi-town right before the first snow. Whew! Here’s the link:

I’m not on it much but I do like how the extended family gets to relay news and pics of the recent extended members of the family. And I do enjoy the levity that my old friends and family are wont to post there. I think it’s harmless. Would I pay for it? No. Will I continue to look at it and make the occasional quip? You betcha.

Mine’s not there, no ‘61 - 357. I’ll have to try to preserve what’s left of the old one for the great-grandkids.
