Why is ChristianMingle.com advertising on CNN? (a confession...)

Okay. This is just one of those things that irks me. You know that car people (dealers, etc.) see through car situations "financing, dealer incentives, etc.) kinda like The Matrix.

The same is true for engineers scientists, etc.

Well, my business is advertising. I am exceptionally good at it and have made many many millionaires in my time selling other people's stuff.

A big part of what I do is deciding whom to reach, when, and how.

Numbers don't always tell the tale - in fact they rarely do. Common sense and a touch of plain old insightful thinking is a core attribute.

About 100 steps down from "insightful" we might find "room temperature," and it really doesn't take a media buyer whose brain is at room temperature to determine that CNN, which is already overpriced, might not be an optimal medium to reach self-identifying "Christians."

In fact it's obvious, to me, that the buy is a move on the client.

A "move" is an insult. A Birdie. An "F.U."

I'd bet you dollars to doughnuts this is a VERY expensive buy, they railroaded the Christian Mingle Marketing Director into it by lying about CNN's numbers and demo/psychographics, and furthermore, if this is not the case,

that there is a nepotistic (or otherwise) relationship between the CNN rep and the buyer for or Marketing Director for ChristianMingle.com

OR... This is a burn. A "Christian" company is being burned by a Madison Avenue boy with lots of gel in his hair and a big party at The Cock tonight. (It's the name of a bar.)

Doubt me if you will, but though I am not yet 40 I have been around this business for over two decades, and I've seen this happen time and time again.

Clearly Christian Mingle is going after the Nambla crowd.

Worse than CNN, they advertise on MSNBC as well.

And the Devil used that line in the Garden of Eden. There is nothing new about “New Age”.

Don’t know about CNN, but doubt it would make sense to advertise on Fox. Given the ads on our local Fox News channel, I would think the average watcher there is about 75, deaf, uses a walker and is incontinent.

Glad you benefited. I spent my pro career in marketing, including a data management business. I think CM may have hired a “deep click” company to target some new customers.

Reach and frequency. Reach and frequency. Reach and frequency.

An advertiser’s way of saying “Location, Location, Location.”

It is Advertising 101.

It is the same reason a media buyer buys time on every radio station in a market, and then mixes the buy so some stations get more spots.

If you were a real advertising guru, you would know the reasons they are buying time on CNN.

I love how these dating site commercials always show hot babes that have no need of a dating service. Suspect reality is somewhat different.

Oh, an attack! You have attacked me!

If you were a real advertising guru, you would know the reasons they are buying time on CNN.

LOL! Clever boy! I never took "advertising 101," I don't hire the kiddies who quote Ogilvy, and "Reach and Frequency" is at best a substitute for "Location." But you're clearly a radio rep, since you're trained to repeat "Reach and Frequency," as all of you are, and you're obviously not a very good one, since you've allowed other stations to "get more spots."

Did you not make "CRMC?" Did you complain when Clear Channel cut your commissions? What was it? Did you "convince 100% of the people 10% of the way?" by allowing those "buyers" to by all the radio in town but not enough of you? Couldn't get "the list?"

Please don't compare yourself to others. It's a sign of your own insecurity and relative poverty, and it leads to a cuckold lifestyle.

Where do you live? What cars do you drive? You have a big boat I imagine? Hmm? How good a salesman are you? What do you owe? Kids in the best private schools? Time to teach them how to sail you sassy little genius Freeperette?

Thanks for the attack, good luck with "Advertising 101" you admirable graduate. Bet you have a robe and everything at Mom's house!
