A consortium of liberal groups and labor unions are pressuring Senate Majority leader Harry Reid (D-NV) to change Senate rules on filibustering beyond the nuclear option. They argue the additional changes will speed up the confirmation of President Obama's judicial nominees.
Moreover, the unions and progressive organizations know that they have to strike while the iron is hot. If Reid and the Democrats fail to retain their control of the Senate in November, Obama will get very few of his judicial nominees confirmed next year.
The rule changes aim to cut the Republicans out of the deliberative process and may undermine the checks and balances that is the foundation of American governance.

I am getting really sick and tired of this...
hairy reid-iculous.
OTOH...it’s a clear signal that the Dems are already conceding that the Senate is lost..
LOL. You have been saving that for a time such as this, haven’t you?
They’re going for broke. Its about time the House starts playing this game.
As done by power hungry despots the world over.
AND...that they're confident that the incoming GOP majority will change the rules back thus taking no advantage of the 'Rats chicanery.
Let’s hope so. I always have faith that the Republicans can snatch a loss from the hands of victory.
In nine months, we will come to realize a 50-50 likely split for the Senate, and it’ll be difficult for Harry or these two independent Senate characters to keep any flames on this “fire”.
and sponsored by our NRA loving’ Freepers..
Geez guy..you really know how to ruin someone’s day..but yes, actually, that’s exactly something I could see McConnell and McCain doing..(shudder)
I see Mitch and Lindsey and John, et al, actually helping Harry pass this one. After all, it is a huge power grab by the dems, will aid Obama’s continued tyranny, and will help insure a GOP minority - what is there for them to oppose?
Harry Reid is headed to prison (or firing squad) with Obama.
‘Obama’ is Bari Shabazz, son of Malcolm X and FBI Weatherman Group fugitive Elizabeth Ann Duke, who skipped bail after being charged in 1985 with the Brinks robbery in Nyack NY in which 3 law enforcement officers were shot dead.
Also, upon arrest, the mother of president Bari Shabazz was caught with fake birth certificates, several SSN cards that werent hers, and equipment to manufacture forged ID.
She skipped bail in 1985 and became an FBI Most Wanted fugitive until after Barry was elected, when bizarrely, in 2009, Eric Holders DOJ dismissed all charges against the still-at-large mother.
McConnell already has a track record of doing this. When he was Majority Leader before, his first order of business was to give 'Rats more committee seats than rules of the Senate had previously authorized. I.e., he immediately ceded power to the 'Rat minority.
I think the "perfect storm" would be Bevin knocking out McConell and the Pubs taking the Senate. If that happens the GOP-e would probably recognize they better line up with the conservatives. The next best thing would be for McConell to lose and the Pubs to still win the Senate.
The worst thing to happen, even more so than the Rats keeping the Senate, is for the Pubs to win the Senate and for McConnell with his GOP-e pals to be in control. All we would see is appeasement.
In nine months, we will come to realize a 50-50 likely split for the Senate, and itll be difficult for Harry or these two independent Senate characters to keep any flames on this fire.
If it is 50-50 Princess Lisa or somebody else in the GOP will caucus with the Dems. The Senate GOP has shown they have no interest in directly engaging Obama.
The foundation of American governance died with Roberts. Once the SCOTUS ruled that we are the property of the state and can be compelled to buy products the govt tells us to we ceased being free people with rights given to us by God.
Not that they would have the gonads to do it, but if the Senate Republicans responded by unanimously refusing to attend the Senate voting sessions on on nominees, would there be a quorum enabling the vote to proceed? Or would that essentially stop the vote right there?
