Hennessey now selling a 707 hp street-legal Corvette

Last year, Sealy Texas based automaker Hennessey announced plans to introduce a modified, customer-friendly version of the 2014 Corvette C7 Stingray they modified to be faster than any other production Corvette, including the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.

The 2014 C7 Corvette Stingray with the HPE700 Twin Turbo Upgrade is now ready for the public. The 700 stands for the 707 horsepower the car boasts after Hennessey's mechanics are done installing all the bells and whistles.

That's a street-legal 707 horsepower car. For comparison, consider that the 2014 Honda Accord comes with 185 horsepower. A Toyota Prius has 134 horsepower.

They have recently announced they will only make 24 of them for the 2014 model year, and they have already begun taking orders for the cars.

That is a picture of a STOCK 2014 C7 Corvette Stingray, 7 Speed Manual with the Z51 Package.

It was equipped with Nitrous for the run. The video is on YouTube.

It ran 206 MPH on a new Texas Toll Road in 5th Gear. The Stock 460 HP Car without Nitrous will do 185-195 MPH.

It isn’t the new Hennessey with 707 Horsepower.

I just liked that picture because it had the Texas flag.

I’ve been getting about 17 MPG around town in mine, and I haven’t been light on the Gas Pedal.

In Eco Mode with Cylinder deactivation the 2014 Corvette will get 29 MPG, but I know other owners that got up to 38 MPG on the Highway.

It’s all in how you drive it. When I take a real road trip in the C7, I’ll see what I can get. My 2011 Mustang with the six cylinder 305 HP Engine got almost 35 MPG on a trip home from Vegas a couple of years ago.

The guy driving the Car was Mr. Hennessey, the owner of the Company. Can’t remember his first name.

He hit the Nitrous Button when he hit about 175 or so.

Damn straight about the Texas Flag. Without Texas, the Country would be doomed.

The new Z06 will have 636 HP, not 736.

That will be all it needs to outperform Cars costing five times as much. It is a beast...

I really don’t know where they would slot a ZR1, if they actually build it.

I am quite content with my Stock Z51 C7. Makes my old C4 look like the Flintstone’s Car, night and day.

Very good. LOL

I even like the rear Fascia, but I’m partial because I have a C7 parked in my garage.

Hennessy is a crook. I’m surprised he is still building cars.

BTW, stock Corvettes are knocking down close to 30 MPG hiway.

Rumor has it that a C7 ZR1 mule ran a sub 7 minute lap at Nurburgring.

That is big news if true.

CALLAWAY TO BUILD FIA GT3 CORVETTES
Callaway Competition to Develop, Homologate New Corvette C7 Race Car

OLD LYME CONNECTICUT/LEINGARTEN GERMANY (July 24, 2013) –

Callaway Competition GmbH, Leingarten Germany, will embark on a development program for making the new Corvette C7 into a GT3-class race car and submit for homologation from the FIA.

Specialists, like Callaway, require authorization from original equipment manufacturers, like Chevrolet, to submit the homologation forms necessary to allow their version of the car to be the version allowed in FIA competition. As Callaway has just received the required letter of authorization from Chevrolet, Callaway has become the appointed specialist representative for building and holding the homologation of the Corvette C7 FIA GT3 race cars.

Callaway has also been the homologation holder for the Corvette C6 version of the GT3 car with the FIA. The Callaway team is currently one of the most successful in GT3, with numerous Drivers and Team Championships from 2007 to present.

hope they put a second gas tank in it.

Why bother ,, the people that buy these things just park them in an air conditioned and heated garage , have someone come out to detail them every now and then and after 30 years of being a garage queen they’re auctioned at Barret Jackson with under 2000 miles on the odometer.

It’s more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. Just saying. :-)
*****************************
Anyone here with real racing experience can hustle ANY new production car ,, even the lowliest cars ,, so fast down the road that it would be dangerous without clearing the road of all other traffic...

I agree 100% ,, getting the last ounce of speed out of a turd is fun you can have everyday and won’t usually cost you your license ... Think Ford Festiva on Yokohama A008r tires...

These giant rolling penises will never be used beyond MAYBE 50% of their capabilities , except for maybe the capabilities that take absolutely no talent ,, like that top speed straight line highway run that the flag photo was taken from..

Warranty sucks; 1 year or 12,00 miles Besides, the C7 0-60 mph in 3.8 sec is fast enough for me.

Did they bother to mention what sort of gas the thing needed to run on?

91 octane. I was pretty amazed. I don't recall what the C/R was or if it was mentioned. Possible that they only ran 91 at the lower boost levels and had to run higher octane to get it to run at higher pressures.

The article did say it runs 16 injectors. 8 for normal driving to make it very streetable. The other 16 kick in at boost to deliver additional fuel. I'm sure it has an interesting control system that required a bit of tuning to sort out.

I'd link to the article, but they won't post it on their web site until subscribers have the hard copies for a few weeks.

Yes, the high horsepower motors are much better on gas these days especially on the highway.

My Dakota 4.7 gets about 13-14 around town but get on the highway and I’ve gotten 20+ MPG. That’s with about 5 to 800 pounds of parts and tools in it.

Look at the numbers for a V6 Camry vs what used to a “supercar”.

What pisses me off now is the dearth of manual transmissions on the market.
