During the last two weeks, LifeNews has brought international attention to the link between the Girl Scouts and the Planned Parenthood abortion business and the national boycott of Girl Scouts cookies sponsored by pro-life groups.
The pro-life movement has been concerned for a number of years about the ties between the Girl Scouts and the Planned Parenthood abortion business. Although the Girl Scout organization maintains that it takes no position on the issue of abortion, parents, churches, and pro-life activists have long complained of the pro-abortion slant of the Girl Scouts resources, role models, and affiliations.
girlscouts5After a series of articles on the boycott and the Girl Scouts-Planned Parenthood link, that featured the Girl Scouts logo to identify the organization, Brian Crawford, an executive with Girl Scouts USA, wrote LifeNews a scathing letter attempting to intimidate us into stopping our reporting on their link and to no longer use their logo or image to identify them as we bring attention to their support for the nations biggest abortion business.
In his letter Crawford again denied any connection to Planned Parenthood and he complained about LifeNews.com articles that outline alleged ties to Planned Parenthood, saying GSUSA has an obligation to protect the Girl Scout name.
Girl Scouts of the USA does not have a partnership or any relationship with Planned Parenthood and does not plan to initiate one, he claimed.
The letter demands that LifeNews no longer identify the Girl Scouts using Girl Scout logos as we report on its link to the abortion company that does approximately one-third of the abortions in the United States. The GSUSA letter lists a date by which LifeNews must guarantee the Girl Scouts it will comply with our demand.
However, the links between the Girl Scouts and Planned Parenthood are longstanding, with a Girl Scouts CEO and individual troops admitting as much.
Fresh on the heels of Girl Scouts USA (GSUSA) sharing a recommendation for pro-abortion Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis as a 2013 Woman of the Year via their official Twitter account, the organization suggested pro-abortion HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius as a woman with courage, confidence, and character.
Meanwhile, the new national spokeswoman for the Girl Scouts, Kelly Parisi, is the former spokeswoman for a pro-abortion organization one founded by Gloria Steinem.
The Girl Scouts have been criticized for their involvement in the May, 2013 Women Deliver Conference, an international event that included safe and legal abortion among its overarching themes. It documents its role in the planning and facilitating of the December, 2012 Bali Global Youth Forum and the outcome declaration, which demands youth access to abortion.
The ties between the two groups have been questioned ever since former Girl Scouts CEO Kathy Cloninger admitted on NBCs The Today Show: We partner with many organizations. We have relationships with Planned Parenthood organizations across the country. See the video here.
Then, in a national survey, seventeen Girl Scouts councils admit to partnering with Planned Parenthood; many other councils refuse to answer the survey question. Of the 315 Girl Scout councils in the U.S., 17 councils reported having a relationship with Planned Parenthood and its affiliates, and 49 reported they do not. The other 249 refused to disclose any relationship.

In 2010-2011 Girls Scouts in New York partnered with Planned Parenthood for a sex-ed program, Real Life. Real Talk. The program website touts their partners (link has since been removed): Real Life. Real Talk. is proud to count the following organizations, faith communities and companies as partners: Girl Scouts of NYPENN Pathways.
For fourteen years, the Girls Scouts in Waco, TX co-sponsored a sex ed conference with Planned Parenthood. Its Perfectly Normal a book written by a Planned Parenthood executive was given to all children in attendance says abortion can be a positive experience. And in January 2012, Girl Scouts employee Renise Rodriguez wore a Pray to End Abortion t-shirt during off-duty visit to her Tucson Girl Scout office and was ordered to her to turn the shirt inside out or leave.
As LifeNews reported in 2012, the Girl Scouts joined with Planned Parenthood to head a UN conference and LifeNews reported on the investigation the Catholic Church is undertaking into the ties between the Girl Scouts and Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion groups.
I agree. Had a little girl show up on my door step after dark last week with girl scout sash on and pen in hand. Mom’s tell tale mini van parked with lights on at the end of my drive way. When she asked if I wanted cookies I said “Not this year.” Was easy, to say no when I thought about the aborted baby girls these cookies may help kill.
Only Satan would think to use children selling cookies to peddle murder. Today my seven year old and I were talking about Jesus and if he gets angry I imagine he does.
I quit buying them 10 years ago.....sad, but the feminists took them over a long time ago.....with Lesbians elevated as role models, etc.
Very anti-male indoctrination and a “hate” motherhood and marriage undercurrent. And intentionally normalizing all types of promiscuity and immorality.
Teaching Virtue used to be what Western Civilization did-—but with the Postmodernists-—”God is Dead” crew and attitude that anything goes (except Christian Ethics).
The Cultural Marxists knew to destroy Virtue in children (which has to be habituated) , you will collapse culture. They infiltrated decades ago.
Shout it from the rooftops. The Girls Scouts, and the Boy Scouts, have been corrupted at their highest levels by the evil one. The people responsible should be removed from office and replaced by people who fear God, or else go the way of all flesh and die. There no virtue in homosexuality and abortion. None.
“In a time of universal deceit - telling the truth is a revolutionary act.” - George Orwell
I actually act as obnoxious as possible and make as much noise as I can, drawing onlookers. That way they will be traumatized into never again venturing out in a GSA uniform.
The other part of it, of course, is that the parents of these girls will bring the cookies to work and attempt to sell them on their behalf.
I went to the grocery store last week and saw the standard grownups and kids sitting on a table requesting donations for something. I walked by then heard them say “Boy Scouts” and I immediately turned around and donated money to them. I told them if they had said “Girl Scouts” I would have refused them and the woman snickered like she got it. Yes, I know the BSA is caving to the gay agenda but I still have some faith in them.
As do I. The little ones have no clue about any of this and some of those mothers might just be conservatives.
Take it out on the Leadership.
Elementary school girls in grades 3,4,5 know what abortion is and know whether their parents are favorable to it.
The Keebler cookies are just as taste addictive as the GSA versions and they are available all year around.
Well then they are STUPID conservatives if they are either ignoring or know nothing about the issues here.
The Girl Scouts, like every youth organization should be run by parents.
Both parents.
Whose children are still in the program.
There are a lot of things that should be just the moms with the kids, but Moms are not the most intimidating chaperones for activities in public where the girls could upon occasion need physical protection.
“That way they will be traumatized into never again venturing out in a GSA uniform.”
Oy.
Let me tell you a story about my Irish Grandmother (she would have fit right in here at FR!).
I was a brownie and a girl scout for a while, but then I decided to give it up. (It had nothing to do with politics or policy or anything like that.)
The next time I visited grandma, on the first day we had breakfast together, she says “Your mother tells me you quit the girl scouts.” I allow that this is true. She then reaches across the table and says “I’d like to shake your hand.” (This is really the first time this has happened to me, since I’m like 10 years old and, as mentioned, as girl.)
I shake hands with her, a little unsure as to what’s going on. And then she says to me “I want to congratulate you for leaving that awful, quasi-military organization.”
I never found out how she felt about my brothers being in the boy scouts!
The GSA is another group that doesn’t know which side of their bread the butter is on.
Agreed, let the girls be girls and avoid politics within their earshot.
How about the possibility that they are young mothers who don’t give a crap about politics.
By virtue of them being a mother, it seems they know full well what “choice” is.
And the fact that they are involved with their child says they just might be able to rear their child to your liking all by themselves.
Planned Parenthood vs Treblinka. Can anyone spend a few minuted helping me understand how they're substantially....basically...different?
Bttt
Also, life issues aren't "politics" to me and weren't when I was 18 or 19. They were part of what I would later learn was called natural law, including the instinct of self-preservation and preservation of offspring (in most higher mammals).
