Rolling Stone is actually in charge of everything that makes the R&R HOF what it is. Their emphasis is not to define rock and roll and figure out who belongs. Instead, it's much too much into rock as a commercial and sensationalist enterprise. And the selections? It's pretty much a club that votes in their friends.
This year's induction is in Brooklyn, NY. That's right....the Rock Hall doesn't even get to have the induction in Cleveland every year.
I put them in "joke" status when their Women in Rock display included a Carrie Underwood concert outfit.

Kiss-the very definition of parody.
Soul isn’t rock.
There’s a lot of acts in the RRHOF that belong in the Soul or R&B halls of fame.

Oh, yes, Peace Train, I'd forgotten:
Now I've been crying lately, thinking about the world as it is
Why must we go on hating, why can't we live in bliss?
This from the guy who supported the death fatwa against Salman Rushdie. Well, everybody changes, and not always for the better. Nowadays it's Suicide Bombers For Peace...

As long as Grand Funk Railroad is not in the RRHOF, it is a big fat joke.

RRHOF has the significance of the ol’ album collection stored in the attic.

Yea...roch has no relation to blues either I suppose?
Kiss is indeed parody...done right. Wearing lumberjack shirts and mumbling isn’t doing it right. It’s looking like a dweeb even though there was money in it.
Kiss entertained. Nirvana did...not sure what.

I agree.. nice tunes. I think he was overwhelmed by success and just went the opposite to a shut in, up tight, hateful disciplined religion that is the antithesis of the 60’s .

I thought induction into the RRHOF was for a lifetime contribution to rock - or a game changer.
Cat was all that for an album or two but he hasn’t been heard from as a recording artist since about 1972.
Pandering to his Muslim-ness, IMHO. If that is the basis, add in Obama for his audio of his bio.

The music from pre-Islam insanity is remarkable. But I do get your point (about Stevens).

Journey. One of the best bands ever. I wonder the same thing.
