Missing Kent K-9 Officer Found Sleeping in Yard

A Kent police K-9 officer known as Kato has been found after he disappeared while responding to a call.

Kato, along with his handler, Officer E. Tung, was sent to a call Thursday night in the 26200 block of 147th Avenue Southeast in Kent.

Kato was helping police look for a hit-and-run suspect around 11 p.m. in the Lake Meridian area. His handler released him to look for the suspect and Kato never came back. After a 2 and a half hour search, Kato was spotted about a half mile away by the King County chopper Guardian One's infrared sensor. He was sleeping in someone's backyard.

The K-9 officer is the same police dog that was stabbed in the line of duty last year. Kato was on a suspect search in Des Moines last September when he was stabbed in the shoulder. He has since made a full recovery.

Medical retirement. He’s earned it.

On a related note, a couple years back a Border Patrol drug sniffing K-9 was released to pursue illegal aliens carrying drug loads. The dog went into the darkness and never came back. Turns out the dog just kept following the illegals as they made their way back to that fine piece of crap, Mexico.

The smugglers took in the dog and bragged about it.

The Border Patrol heard about this and tried to negotiate a hand-off from the smugglers and the Border Patrol and the smugglers refused.

Heat went up REAL HIGH along that stretch of the border and the cartel in that area had a ‘come-to-hey-sus-meeting’ (or was it a ‘come-MEET-hey-sus-meeting’) with the arrogant smuggler with the dog.

The smuggler disappeared and the dog returned.

It was time for his afternoon break. Can’t work during the break; against union rules.

You want me to chase someone through the dark? Yeah, I'll get right on that.
