The story of how our national anthem came to be. This is a story every American should hear. It's a little lengthy, but I'm sure it'll be worth your time

Rah, brother!!!
Anytime!
America The Beautiful IS a beautiful song... it paints an amazing picture in the mind when you listen to the lyrics.
But there’s something about the National Anthem that runs up and down the spine and brings a tear to my eye (not easy).
I guess it’s KNOWING what it was written about, and what it cost in lives to KEEP that flag flying over Fort McHenry, that’s what gets me.
The version of “Dixie” I love best comes from an old 1940 Movie with Jimmy Cagney - “The Fighting 69th”.
It’s played when the 4th Alabama comes marching into Camp Mills, to be brigaded together with the 69th New York Irishers.

And then of course, the brawl between the Southern Boys and the New York boys begins... hehehe. Great movie, catch it when it comes on if you’ve never seen it.
And they also play “Garry Owen” playing in that movie as well.
You’re a good man!
I don’t care what they say about you.
:-)
:...I dont care what they say about you....”
LIES! They’re all damn lies!!! Hahaha!! (except the part about the Siberian hookers, the 55 gallon vodka drum, and the female midget mud wrestlers - but I was VERY VERY drunk at the time)...
Star Spangled Banner - Jimi Hendrix with Silver Apples (rare studio recording)

The 2 piece electronic band Silver Apples were busy rehearsing the Star Spangled Banner for a concert in Central Park to honor the Apollo 11 moon mission.
The studio they used was also used by Jimi Hendrix.
He was waiting for his studio time one night and jammed with them on the Star Spangled Banner (he was rehearsing it himself for Woodstock).
Many of the other tapes had deteriorated too much to be salvaged.
Silver Apples is normally much more melodic than this.
Liked this!
