Around 2:15 a.m., Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies got several calls from people living near Antelope and Walerga Roads who heard gunshots.

While deputies were on their way to check it out, they got more calls reporting a man walking near Antelope Road with a gun. The man, in his late 20s, was walking near Don Julio Boulevard with an assault rifle when deputies asked him to drop the weapon.

According to the deputies, the man refused to drop the rifle, and pulled a second gun from inside his jacket, and pointed it at them.

Both deputies shot at the man; he was treated by emergency personnel but later died at the hospital.

he pulled another weapon from his jacket? He was holding an assault rifle in his hands but he opted to reach into his jacket and pull out a hand gun to engage a couple of LEOs? Oh, that's believable.

Did he shoot himself 17 times with a nailgun, too?

Methinks there is more to this than is being reported.

It just doesn't "sniff sniff" smell right.

Very plausible situation. How can you not see it?

“...the man refused to drop the rifle, and pulled a second gun from inside his jacket, and pointed it at them.”

Ah-huh.

The only reason someone I would think would do something like that would be if the rifle was either unloaded or in non-functional state. And there’s not much point in carrying around a firearm that doesn’t shoot, is there?

So yeah, this is a weird one. Unless the guy was completely off his bean, or was looking to commit suicide by cop, it just isn’t adding up for me.

That is next to I80. They might as well rename it MLK Blvd. Lots of freaks in that area.

Nope. I don’t see it. If he was up to no good, he wouldn’t be walking down the road with a rifle in hand. He would have ditched the rifle. This guy was a hunter returning to his vehicle. The cops shot him because that’s what cops do these days. they then planted the “drop gun” on him because that’s also what cops do these days. Then they conspired amongst themselves to cover up the deed.

I have come to the conclusion that stupid people should not be allowed access to cell phones. It seems the dummies first action is to call the police for anything that appears at all gun related. There should be a test given before the purchase of a cell or issuance of an Obozo phone, if you are not smart enough to tie your shoes, no cell for you. I think a lot of people are and will be killed as the result of dumba55es with cells. Someone hears a gunshot and someone ends up dead. See the link?

Might be the rifle was a cane

Good point! Was he hunting at 3am? I’ve been hunting for 50 yrs., and somehow never had to explain my circumstance, to the many folks I’ve run across on the coast, mountain or high desert. Skittish kops, yep, they happen. Yet, most of the rural cops are well known by everyone, and visa versa. Walking down a road with a long gun, ain’t a big deal. Droppin’ it, to divert...well, I don’t know what happen. Where I live, you’d best know where you are.

it doesn't help when the leftist press whips a largely pusillanimous and pussefied public into a panic over the issue.

Wait and see, latest way to off your no so lucky individual is to super glue an airsoft assault rifle to his hands, get him drunk, call the cops, drop him off near a school or any liberal palace of power and he will immediately be gunned down.

The over testosteroned SWAT/military cowards will be high fiving how macho they are for days.

It sounds like it was probably closer to 2 am, still, point taken. I have shot more varmints than I can remember in the wee hours of the morning however. It isn't clear what he was doing but it seems like he would have to be one dumb criminal to go commit a gun crime and then walk down the road in plain site with the weapon after the fact. I think anybody that was concerend about being implicated in any wrong doing involving a ifrearm would have hidden the weapon and returned later for it when there was a decreased chance of being caught with the weapon.

Well, dumb criminals are probably not unusual. Good enough, RC one, nice conversing with you. Take care.

You are making the assumption that the man was operating normally and of sound mind.
