Raise your hand if you’ve ever walked smack into something or someone while staring down at your smartphone? Yeah, you. You know who you are, and you’re far from alone. We’re guilty of walking and texting, too.

Fear no longer, distracted, device-gazing zombie walkers. Help for unabashed, small-screen addicts like us is on the way -- to the Google Play store next month, actually. The industrious geniuses at New York City’s One Llama Labs have developed a hyper sound-sensitive Android app called Audio Aware.

How about when they are riding a bicycle?

I saw an “adult” male texting with both hands while on his bike.

Somewhere I have the photograph I made of same and will endeavor to find and post it here.

there are some people whom no app in the world could make any safer than they are

We saw a pedestrian texted walk directly into the front stone face wall of a big city building. Broke their face as I recall. Ambulance Hospital. Doubt they finished their text message.

now that I havent seen as yet but Im thinking texting on a segway would be somewhat safer than texting on a bike...

Balance would have to be minimally better that on a bike due to the layout of the wheels and the fact that Ive never seen a segway exceed a couple of miles an hour.

Anyone got a picture of a Segway user with a Starbucks coffee in one hand, Google glasses, and a cellphone in the other?
