It’s a bird! It’s a plane! Nope — it’s a Facebook drone.
The social media site reportedly wants to use drones to bring Internet connection to the two thirds of the world that still lack connectivity, starting with parts of Africa. The initiative is part of the internet.org project, which Facebook backs.

However, being in touch with the rest of the world through the Internet can make huge changes in a society, which is precisely why Muslim countries and dictatorships try to limit it. I hope Boko Haram doesn’t come after them!
Fortunately, the Muslims’ lack of technology wouldn’t allow them to hit a drone, and California is too far away for them get there to behead the Facebook people.

Why do they have to build 11,000 drones. I can find that many working for the government in D.C. in about an hour.
I hope they do not run on oil.....global warming and all that.
I wouldn't know one from the other as I do not believe social networking is any more than a quick and easy way to:
get arrested
get a divorce
lose your job
get unwanted media attention
etc. etc.
stay off the social media.

Gee what did we ever do before the internet? Let them build the infrastructure like we did.

Might be possible that these would be dual purpose drones. Zuckerwhatever is in the backpocket of obozo so who knows what purpose these things could serve. The government has to approve the production of these things, so........
For the cost of a drone you could probably give them a cow or a goat, clean water, and a polio shot. All of which would do much more to improve their lives than Facebook.
the wife was asked to join facebook by her maid of honor, who she had not heard from in 20 years.
she signed up and then got pictures of her friend in a burka(nice Polish girl from upstate NY)...she was living in Egypt with her muzzy husband and 2 daughters and probably walking 10 paces behind and not driving. the wife cancelled her Facebook account immediately. The wife feels bad not so much for her friend, but for her 2 daughters who are nothing more than chattel.
Go for it, Zukerberg. Get Bill and Melinda Gates to pony up at least a billion. You guys can feel good about yourselves afterward. The rest of us will sit this one out, thank you.

Just go down to the local DNC and hire 11,000 drones for half the price.
