Well, I loved the first LZ album when it came out. Liked most of the second, and couple of songs on the third, and not much after that. I thought they became more and more pretentious and silly as time went on. I mean, Gollum stole my girl away to Mordor? C’mon. Eventually they epitomized everything that went wrong with rock music in the 70s that led to the whole punk/new wave movement.
None the less, Jimmy Page is still a great guitar player.

Actually "In Through The Out Door" was their finest album in my opinion. So they actually got better with age.
Had they not broken up, they would have had some pretty astounding albums during the 1980s. Robert Plant's "Big Log" is an indication of where they were headed musically. Probably the best song of the entire 1980s right there.

Led Zeppelin ROCKS, always has, always will. They are in the Pantheon of henkster’s all time great bands with The Who, The Stones, the Beatles, Pink Floyd and Yes.
But that’s just me.
