(KMOV.com) A new prescription painkiller has ER doctors concerned about the risk of spikes in overdoses and deaths.
Zohydro is 10 times stronger than Vicodin and could be potentially deadly. The potent extended release prescription painkiller is made of pure hydrocodone.
Doctors fear itll fall into the wrong hands when its released later this month.

Acetaminophen is a real odd drug. It is very poisonous to most animals, but in humans a small dose has an analgesic effect. But all told, it is one of the leading overdose drugs in the US.
However, crunching the numbers isn’t easy.

The bottom line is that, as with many drugs, they need to be treated with respect and used according to guidelines.
I am shocked, shocked I tell you, that these Doctors suspect that Zohydro will become the latest addiction craze.
My Vicodin script is 10-325, the 325 being MGs of acetophetimin, which is actually a pretty low dose. I can but don’t take up to 5 a day.
That has simply go to be pure nonsense. That means that 8.4% of the entire US populace would be active addicts to opiates. Not buying it.
I did not know it by that name -- had to look it up. Ah, yes, Naloxone; I know the chemical/generic name. Used it in the lab.
It’s probably true because of tolerance in chronic users. Doses that would kill a new user.
I took these pills and they really helped my pain, and let me tell you I’m as high as a kite right now.
I asked the doctor what they’re called, and he said, “Placebos.”
I don't know, it might help to explain Obama.
Check out the composition of Vicodin or Norco. At least 325 mg of acetaminophen per tablet. That was reduced from 500 mg per after the FDA warned of liver toxicity.
Isn’t there an ibuprofen containing analogue of vicodin? I was prescribed it once after a root canal. I am reluctant to take vicodin because of the acetomeniphen content.
Same doctors have the same fears over guns and ammo....
Not really, because after taking the drug for a while, larger and larger doses are needed, so a single abuser may be taking a lot of pills each day.
And because their black market value is high, with some estimates between $80-100 per pill, heroin, which is both readily available, and costs a quarter or less that much, becomes irresistible.
Though I like to add the note that a drug abuse expert said that “While they think they will just smoke or snort heroin, within a couple of weeks, they are injecting it.”
This is really getting out of control in a hurry.
They chase it down with liquor and that’s what kills their liver.
What's "new" about that? My Dad was getting 10mg Oxycodone pills from the VA back in the 80's.
That's true. I had that happen to a friend. I warned her repeatedly about the danger, to no avail.
In some cases yes; but then there are some people who take Rx pain pills that they dont realize contain acetaminophen and also take an OTC containing acetaminophen (Tylenol) on top of it without realizing that they are getting way too much acetaminophen. The same can be said of OTC multi-symptom cold drugs that contain acetaminophen when the personal also takes Tylenol at the same time.
Acetaminophen in high enough doses can cause liver damage without any alcohol use.
The magic formula is normally lots of alcohol, prescription meds and not eating. If you mix any two, you will die.
A doctor spoke to our Fraternity long ago. He told us it was very hard to drink your liver to death without the formula. Mostly, the reason was that alcohol kills you in other ways first. Accidents, heart disease, stroke, etc. Most of the early liver deaths were in combination with something.
Zohydro/Hillary 2016
The GOP is going to run Placebo-Perry in 2016.
