Apologies.

Posted on 03/10/2014 7:56:27 AM PDT by LouAvul

I'd like to apologize for my online behavior and inflammatory posts. When discussing the situation re illegal immigration I've used terms like "wetback."

When discussing things like the "knockout game", the white house, etc, I've used terms like "ghetto monkey."

It's shameful and sinful. It's a testimony to Jim Robinson's patience that I haven't been banned. It won't happen again.

Again, I'm sorry for that.

I use wet///back, go///ok, and others. Many have been used towards me. I really don’t give a shlt. Sticks and stones you know. My time is ending. Ignore me. Put up with me. Or do away with me. I really do not care

Don’t let guilt over rule logic it’s how one becomes a progressive liberal remember they are only words nothing else it’s only actions that hurt.

I know you are being nice but there is a reason that illegal Mexicans are called “wetbacks” in Texas. They swim the Rio Grande to get to Texas. If they don't like that name, they can walk across the NM AZ or CA border to illegally enter the US.

Most folks probably don't realize the Rio Grande starts in Colorado, runs down the middle of New Mexico, and then becomes the border between TX and Mexico.

I cross the Rio Grande twice a day commuting to/from work, right here in the Albuquirky metro area.

Yes I know where the Rio Grande starts I have been there. I have also driven along the NM/Mexico border that is nothing but a rusty falling down barbed wire fence. Or at least that is what it was a few years ago.

We should all probably build a list of names that we shouldn't call the president too, such as

(I'm sure we could come up with some other names we shouldn't call him for the list too if we just think about it for a while.)

I appreciate the sentiments, too but agree with Ditter. I’m of Hispanic ancestry and I say “mojado”, like most of the native Texans of my ancestry do. It isn’t even considered an insult here-wet is wet-just a statement of fact in Spanish or English...

These days you’re more likely to find me seeking a means of reaching out to groups of Americans who tend to lean democrat. I simply show respect, explain why I’m a conservative, and how conservatism will be good for them. I’ve made a lot of unlikely friends that way and that just gives me a chance to promote conservatism even more.

good for you! i have been trying to do the same too... for me, it's trying to live out the second greatest commandment as Jesus described to Nicodemus in Matthew 22:39--love your neighbor as yourself...

it is not easy...

Sometimes outrage and anger makes us post or blurt before we think.

I made a rule for myself a long while back to write what I think on paper and sit it in front of me, wait awhile and then look at it to see if I really want to say that.

It works, then after a while you can use the 5 minute, cool off rule with no paper.

Funny, I’ve been doing the same thing.
Showing Democrat-leaning voters that conservatives are normal people who care about America can be powerful.
The uber-left are hopeless but so far, they are a minority.

I agree 100%.

I have never been a real liberal, but it was there somewhat in the past. My family is almost all democrats. I find both parties, have in part sold out to a smaller section of their membership, at the “top”.

There is a big swatch of people who are somewhere in the middle. In fact, a majority I would say.

Continue reaching out to those people.

There is a segment you will never connect with, but do not lose sight of the fact there is a huge segment of America right now which is not particularly happy with either party.

Reach out to them.

Dems are moving ever to the left. Communism, government, and more control.

Our side however has our own vulnerabilities, and they have become quite large. Mainly we need to support American jobs.

Bigtime.

Neither party is 100% right. Just keep supporting what is.

now THAT is an expression I grew up hearing that I’ve had to purge from my vocabulary. It was never meant in a racial way either, “white” being used as in “the guys in the white hats”, but no one knows or would ever believe that today.

Of course I’m a racist for disagreeing with Obama’s policies anyhow.

Still, we do better when we can disagree without resorting to the gutter terminology, racism, or euphemisms for the same.

I’m spending too much time at FR. Your post was at the bottom of the screen and your screen name was cut off. While reading your post, I thought, this has to be from Cripplecreek. Sure enough, it was. I commend you for reaching out.

Yeah, ghetto monkey is not a 15 yard penalty. More like a 5 yarder.

It’s funny I’m not a big PC guy. But I was recently in FL and hung out with my brother and some of the good ole boys. They were dropping the n word left and right. I realized that I Never have been around people who used that a lot. Ever. Even when I was a kid back in the 60’s.

And I was around Boston in the 70’s, and I did not hear it a lot.

It simply sounded harsh and hateful to my ears.

I guess I should have spoken up...but I was in Rome....etc.

Good on you for asking forgiveness. I know I could join you in the confessional about stuff I’ve written here, intentionally trying to aggravate or piss people off.

I have a feeling the crap is on it’s way to the fan. We will need to hang together. It’s best we all examine our tone, and I will tone it down too.

I’ve learned over the years that no matter what you do you’ll always offend someone or some group etc. PC has gotten way out of hand, is way overblown and changing words or using different words as to “not offend” is pathetic.

My stand is: Never apologize, just clarify if the offended didn’t understand the first time.
