Sending Secretary of State John Kerry to negotiate with his Russian counterpart in a failed bid to avert a Moscow-backed referendum in Crimea was “like sending a cupcake to negotiate with a steak knife,” former U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. John Bolton said on Sunday. Speaking as the referendum was underway, Bolton told Fox News that both the Obama administration and the European Union (E.U.) were demonstrating weakness in their handling of the Ukraine crisis.
Even after Kerry’s last-ditch talks with Lavrov on Saturday failed to avert the referendum, Kerry seemed reluctant to talk about sanctions. Asked during a press conference after the talks whether U.S. and E.U. sanctions would now be a fait accompli on Monday, he agreed that Obama and the E.U. “have said if the referendum takes place, there will be some sanctions” – but then added immediately, “There’ll be some response, put it that way.” Kerry referred several times during the press availability to Russia’s “legitimate concerns” and “legitimate interests” in Ukraine. “We hope President Putin will recognize that none of what we’re saying is meant as a threat. It’s not meant as a – in a personal way,” he said.

Bolton and Kirkpatrick - the last U.N Ambassadors with courage and strength of conviction to stand for American interests. The were truly honorable American representatives. What we have now are cupcakes, just like Bolton says.
I wouldn't be so sure about that.
Kerry promised proof of Russian atrocities that will sway worldwide opinion against Putin.. he has testimony from someone he met recently who is a Russian soldier who told Kerry
"I witnessed Russian troops as they raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blew up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of Ukraine . . . ."
It's up to you Kerry will tell the world.

Do you remember assistant UN Ambassador Charles Lichenstein saying that if member states felt “they are not being treated with the hostly consideration that is their due,” they should consider “removing themselves and this organization from the soil of the United States. We will put no impediment in your way,” he continued, “The members of the U.S. mission to the United Nations will be down at the dockside waving you a fond farewell as you sail off into the sunset.”
