Philly Marks Second Snowiest Winter On Record
CBS ^ | March 17, 2014 | Kate Bilo

PHILADELPHIA — It’s St. Patrick’s Day and three days away from spring, but after enjoying mild and pleasant weekend weather, winter reminded us of its wrath this morning with yet another “upside-down” storm that delivered heavy snow, especially to the shore points and portions of Delaware.

4.5″ of snow fell today at the airport, making it the snowiest St. Patrick’s Day ever. The previous snowiest St. Pat’s was all the way back in 1892 when 3.5″ of snow fell.

In addition to that, we have now achieved another dubious milestone this winter. With 67.4″ of snow this season, it’s now the second snowiest winter ever here in Philadelphia.

Is that Pesky Global Warming Thing acting up again? Why can’t it conform like your average Dem Voter? It’s not right. It’s not fair.

This has absolutely nothing to do with Global Warming, which continues unabated in spite of the 17-year pause.

It was all those Prius and electric car owners. They didn’t pollute enough there to form a “warm weather heat source” over the city. Blame them.

By the way, here in upstate New York, we had -2° F when the children left for school this morning.

Last night, it was colder still.

So what I want to know is what kind of global warming was going on in 1892 to make that year the snowiest on record?

I'm in a Rochester suburb and soooo sick of cold and snow I could scream. Worst winter in at least 50 years.

Joe Bastardi (who seems like a bright guy) thinks this may well be a series of frigid winters like the late 70s.

The End of Snow?

By PORTER FOXFEB. 7, 2014 . . .

This article strikes me as one of the best timed of all the premature gloom and doom predictions from Global Warming alarmists.

I agree with Joe.

Here's a list of solar cycles:

Solar cycle 20 (the one after the "modern maximum"), which ended in 1976, was a low cycle, and the years which followed its bottom were cold.

Then we got two high cycles (21 and 22), which coincidentally happened during the rise in global temperatures.

Solar cycle 23 (1996 thru 2008, the last cycle shown above) was lower, and coincidentally happened during the pause in global warming.

Now we're in solar cycle 24, whose peak is exceptionally low.

But no, variation in that big hot ball in the sky have no effect on the weather. It's good that there is no real correlation, because if there was, we would be looking at the next several winters being a bit chilly.

The snowiest was 1947 when young Bill Cosby had to walk five miles to school in four feet of snow. Uphill both ways.

A few years ago we had so much snow where I am that I broke two shovels (I had three, so I was still ok). I went to the stores and asked “Do you have any global warming shovels? I just broke two.” All the stores were out of shovels, but I got a lot of smiles and grins at my request.

We had a beautiful, sunny, but not warm day here in CNY.

They can have the snow.

If I never saw snow again, I could die happy.

Bring on the global warming.
