A surfer in Australia was airlifted to hospital Monday after a dolphin slammed into him as he was riding a wave at a remote beach.
The 27-year-old man was on his body board, or boogie board, at Bawley Point, 250 kilometres (155 miles) south of Sydney, when the collision occurred.
"He has come over a wave and as he did so, a dolphin has come through and hit him in the pelvic area," New South Wales Ambulance duty operations manager Wayne Dunlop said.

One jumped over me when I was paddling out at Black’s Beach.....scared the you know what outta me...kinda surprised this doesn’t happen more often.
Dolphins are BIG fish! I had one jab me in the ribs and break a few. They are playful but they can hit damned hard.

I had something similar happen too when I was boggie boarding some sizable waves near Hazard’s Canyon on the Central Coast of CA. I’d just kicked into and caught a wave, dropped over the ledge, and a BIG dolphin blasted out of the face of the wave about 10 or 15 feet in front of me and soared oven me and the lip of the breaking wave. Dolphins are Master Wave Riders- no one get hit in the pelvis by accident.
