Still, the first baseman who led the Dodgers in hits, home runs, RBIs and games played last season did a good job of making Sydney Cricket Ground, the home for two Major League Baseball season-opening games this weekend, sound and look like a real ballpark.
The Dodgers and their weekend opponents, the Arizona Diamondbacks, arrived early Tuesday on separate jumbos from the U.S. west coast. It was a 15-hour flight and took the teams across the International Date Line, missing Monday altogether, and putting them in a time zone 18 hours ahead of the one they left behind.

I see a lot of baseball terminology on British TV these days too.
My FIL is a Diamondbacks fan, and watches EVERY game. He's old and I have to stay up with him until he is in bed. Do you know how many games baseball teams play? 162, and almost every one of them is broadcast. The Diamondbacks played 79 extra innings in 2013. That's almost nine extra games. It was a looooong season.
This year it's going to be different. We've cut the cord and no longer subscribe to cable TV. We are subscribing to MLB TV and he gets to see the replays on the Roku during the day.
Now, if we could re-locate the Dis-Astros to Siberia......
