There is no worm in Tequila. Is there?

Nope. The "worm" (actually a moth larvae) is in mezcal.

More likely it is due to all the vomiting after after a night of drinking tequila.

I know one thing for sure - tequila is NOT good for my health.

Once at a party I was badgered into 3 shots - thought I’d die but I didn’t. Have not touched a DROP since.

This is going to be an advertising gimmick for Mexican restaurants and bars by this weekend.
Drink Tequila for your health!

Hahah, the first vision that comes up is of fat Mexicans. Just saying - it is not a slim group.

They are fond of eggs as a staple in the diet, down in Mexico. There was almost a food crisis down there when a shortage of eggs loomed.

The first time you introduce people to Mezcal, notice that at first they are grossed out by the worm, at the end of the bottle, they are fighting for the worm.

********************
When a Jr. in HS (1950s), my HS friend had gone to Mexico and came back with a LARGE bottle of 180 proof tequila. We took it with us while cruising around before the midnight movies on Halloween. ....We bought all kinds of things like 7-Up, Ginger-Ale, etc., to try to use as mixers/chasers. They all failed with that bottle of rocket fuel.

We were pretty much blitzed when we went to the theater for a couple of movies. We managed to stagger out and drank some more while my friend just kept driving.

Woke up in full sunlight, in the middle of a farmer’s field with no idea where we were. We were both sick and hungover in a major way. .....Managed to drive the car back along the tracks the car had made in the field and through the fence to a road.

Turns out, that field was about 20 miles away from where we lived, but we didn’t know that until after driving around on various roads until we found one that was familiar.

I finally got home around noon and immediately went to bed. I was sick from alcohol poisoning for about two days. Since then, I can only drink tequila in a margarita. The smell of tequila gags me.

Apologies for the long post, but that just stirred memories.

WOW - probably lucky you were young enough to survive that but I do believe that stuff can kill you without you even knowing it.

I used to love them but have had only one Margarita since that incident - and it was a virgin.

Yech... Only mescal swill has a worm. A worm is something to look forward drinking such a horrible product. Fine tequila is enjoyed like a good sippin’ whiskey.
