The first symptoms of throat and mouth cancer -- also known as oropharyngeal cancer -- may differ depending on whether the condition is caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), a small study suggests.
Oropharyngeal cancer arises in the throat, soft palate, tonsils or base of the tongue. Smoking is a major risk factor, as is chronic infection with certain strains of HPV -- which causes warts in the genitals, mouth and anus, and is the most common sexually transmitted disease in the United States.
Although oropharyngeal cancer is relatively uncommon, the rate of HPV-linked cases has been rising -- particularly among white adults younger than 55. The reasons aren't clear, but experts suspect that changes in oral sex practices have a lot to do with it.

Quite a legacy he has.
“HPV-Linked Throat Cancer May Have Telltale Signs”
1) You’ve been intimate with CZJ ?
Herpes in the throat? Now how did that happen?
HPV related throat/mouth cancers is very rare and it happens mostly in immuno compromised people and smokers who blow off annual testing.
Women need to get their annuals done, period.
I am not trying to be a smart a$$, but hasn't this particular activity been going on for several thousand years? Why would it just now start to increase?
You can be snarky all you want but herpes doesn’t really care where it shows up. Yeah it could be from oral sex but it can also be because you have common herpes (herpes 1) and one can end up with them showing in the mouth and on the tonsils and other mucous membranes.
There are very few dental insurance plans that cover oral cancer screenings using special products/lighting that make oral cancer easier to detect. And most people refuse to pay for this procedure out of pocket, even though the fee is less than $70, in most cases. If you have ever tested positive for HPV infection or cervical dysplasia or cervical or anal cancer, I would strongly suggest requesting a thorough oral cancer exam at your dental office.
Regular bathing?
Remind anyone else of Micheal Douglas’s throat problems which he blamed on oral sex? Should be a consolation to him that he is married to Zeta-Jones. Yes, I do keep up with a small amount of this stuff.
HPV is NOT Herpes. HPV is human pappiloma virus. It’s warts.
Some strains of HPV cause cancer.
As a female, even though I went for all of my yearly checkups, never once did they ever offer a throat pap! Seems like they should though.
I know people personally who got throat cancer as a result of HPV so I’m pretty surprised that it’s not considered a common thing these days.
I am sure you are right. I just assumed that these people were smart enough to clean up consistently. Maybe I assumed too much.
why hasn’t that EX come down with some terrible diseases?.....maybe he started with terrible diseases before his tenure soiling our national oval office...
For all we know, he is riddled with microbes that science has yet to identify.
I've noticed that a lot of diagnostics are being spaced further apart after the elites decide its not necessary anymore and coincidentally, most of these recommendations affect women only....fewer pap smears, fewer mamograms.
we do get all those abortions though....:(
Interesting side note: live births can many times slough (for lack of a better term) away infected cells.
Pay for it yourself. Forgo a couple dinners out or whatever it is. It's worth it to know things are right.
And not in a good way. What a weak excuse for a man he is.
Well, I guess she’s also bi-polar, so it hasn’t all been a bed of roses.
