Posted on 03/21/2014 5:49:47 AM PDT by envisio
Kevin Sorbo is sick of what he calls Hollywood's intolerance to those who believe in God.
"There's a negativity towards Christians in Hollywood," Sorbo told FOX411. "And a negativity towards people who believe in God."
It's not just faith that Hollywood is intolerant of. Sorbo, who has spoken out against President Obama's policies, feels the backlash from the entertainment industry for his political affiliations.
"There's also a negativity towards people who aren't liberal. There's no question that it has hurt me in Hollywood that I didn't vote for Obama."
Sorbo said he doesnt understand why his religious or political beliefs should have any affect on his work as an actor, but he has noticed a decline in role offers since coming out of the "Christian closet."
"There's some much bashing going on in the media and world for people who believe in God," said Sorbo. "I'm just not afraid of the [politically correct] crowd I'll go right back at them."
What it all comes down to is Hollywood not being open to those with differing beliefs, said Sorbo.
"There's so much anger in Hollywood," the "God's Not Dead" star said. "They don't like the truth, they'd rather belied to and they just attack anybody who doesn't agree their way."
"Yet they scream for tolerance and they scream for freedom of speech but only if it's their way," Sorbo continued. '"I don't begrudge them their beliefs, why do they begrudge mine?"

Hollywood has every reason to be afraid of God, as does our current government.
“I don’t begrudge them their beliefs, why do they begrudge mine?”
Because they are bigots.
They are afraid of God because they are filled to the brim with decadent homosexuals and pedophiles (but I repeat myself). They do not want moral people preaching to them, instead they want to force their deviate lifestyle on the rest of the world.
Kevin Sorbo? He should be asking himself why he’s such a bad actor. If he, Lou Diamond Phillips, and Joe Estevez are evil all in the same place, a singularity will form from all the suck.
I’ve always believed their hatred of God is greater than their fear of Him.
Their hatred is deep and quite vitriolic and intense - waaay beyond anger. It always displays their belief that they are their own god.
In answer to the title line question ... because of “accountability” ...
Satan kept his part of the deal and they're afraid to lose their part.
I've heard that many Hollywood types have announced that publicly.
I'll not forget "Rosemary's Baby."
They have every reason to, we all have, but none they are compelled by, apparently.
Seems like I've read something about these times somewhere...
I remember being afraid when I read it and reread it and definitely haven't gotten over my fear.
That was the old lie in the garden...”Ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”
Same dance, different tune.
I read somewhere that the fear of The Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
From what I've read about Hollywood, you had your Sodomites, Communists and anti-Christians back in the 30's and 40's- it was just that America was so traditional that the Studio Presidents had good sense to keep all the shenanigans out of the news. It wasn't that Hollywood degenerated in the 1960's, it was that it was unveiled.
There are plenty of Christian writers, directors, and actors who, if some Christian studio would start up and nurture them, could produce some awesome movies.
Is it possible that because Scientology has such a hold on Hollywood that the adherents to that ‘religion’ don’t want to promote competing religions such as Christianity?
I don’t go to movies and therefore am not familiar with Mr. Sorbo. Is he a well-known actor?
Oh come on man... Lou Diamond Phillips is bad, but he does have his typecast where he fits in. He is good in Longmire.
2 Cor 2:16
Oh Scientology is a fashion statement. They wear it like a Loui Vuitton bag. Its what all the latest hip and cool kids in Hollywood are doing.
Yeah... Until you want to get out of it. Then see what happens.
I prepurchased tickets for God's not Dead, going after work today.
Because “Hollywood” is a gulag....
Sounds like an Eagles song...
I’ll concede the point hthat he’s good in Longmire. Fabulous show. But the amount of dumb I saw in “Bats” is still fresh.
I just happened to see the trailer for this movie on Youtube as an advertisment. It looks like something I might go see.
Tolerance is a one way highway with lefists.
I only came to the thread for the Herc pix.
It’s not that they hate God, it’s that they’d rather worship Government.
And this is the judgment, that the light is come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were evil.
John 3:19 (ASV)
If I was a betting man... Matt 23:33
Some celebrities have an image to maintain. They have an on-stage image that is carefully crafted by paid image consultants to maximize appeal to a certain fan base. Some celebrities would not embrace their faith even if they had any because their image is their livelyhood.
I can imagine a few that would be totally different people in their private lives as opposed to their stage presence.
Afraid of G-d? With the garbage they spew out about Jews and Christianity (their version)?? They laugh in His face when they produce that stuff.
Practically speaking, Hollywood is dying. Giant multinational corporations have bought up the studios, and they only want scripts that conform to the book “Save the Cat”, generic scripts that offend no one, change nothing, and movies that make all their box office in the first week then are forgotten, except for DVD and Blu-Ray sales.
The last big money making enterprise in Hollywood was Canon Films, run by Golan-Globus, who produced dozens of low budget, but high margin movies, 8 of 10 of which just needed to break even, with 1 or 2 of 10 being successful, to make them very rich.
So this is what conservative actors should do. And not in Hollywood and that disaster of a state, California, but somewhere else. A new film production center, with entirely different values.
Decent and creative scripts, albeit low budget ones, with the emphasis on acting, foreign location shoots instead of f/x, live studio music, and non-union workers. Likewise, lots of direct to syndication anthology series for TV, so instead of a few actors making all the money, a lot of actors make *some* money, with a lot of work available.
Everything is family friendly, with only two subdivisions: directed at families with children; and more adult-oriented dramatic material, that is, not stuff children shouldn’t see, but stuff that children aren’t particularly interested in seeing.
A large part of what they would do could be non-fiction, like detailed biographical sketches of American heroes, “Mr. Wizard” type science shows as opposed to “Bill Nye the science fool” shows, futurism shows like the 1960s show “The 21st Century”, and geography-travel-tourism-history shows.
A lot of this was the best of TV programming in the 1950s through the 1970s. It was popular and it was intelligent. No reason that it wouldn’t still work.
That’s a simple answer, really. It is because GOD knows them. He knows what is in their hearts and in their minds.
Hollywood is filled with egoists, and the thing that egoists can’t handle is that there is an authority above them.
the only God Hollywood fears is Allah.
“Yeah... Until you want to get out of it. Then see what happens.”
Can you still see with a heavy sack thrown over your head?
He's hunky, loves God, and isn't afraid to talk about it. I could care less about his acting.
Sherwood Pictures, of Albany, Georgia, has made some great movies. They are affiliated with a Baptist church.
We need more companies such as Sherwood Pictures to provide competition to the sewer of Hollywood.
Except for Disney, the men that have run the big Hollywood Studios from the 30’s to now have been not just been anti-Christian.
There are Christians making films. Pure Flix is one and the Kendrick brothers made Fireproof, Courageous and a few others.
Sorbo was in 2 television shows, Hercules and Andromeda. He now does Christian and independent films because Hollyweird has blacklisted him for being a Christian.
(Sorry...tried to blow up a smaller gif and it didn’t turn out as good as I’d hoped.)
“Practically speaking, Hollywood is dying.”
Movies and television have never been more profitable than right now. And other states and other countries are finally figuring out how to make good stuff — by following Hollywood’s lead. If anything, Hollywood is expanding.
“Giant multinational corporations have bought up the studios”
Nope. The successful studios grew into giant corporations, by virtue of their success. Like Disney. And Warner Bros. Non-movie, widget-making corporations who try to run studios fail miserably at it. As when GE bought NBC.
“and they only want scripts that conform to the book Save the Cat
There are consistent elements in every successful script that go all the way back to Shakespeare. All the way to the Greek dramatists. “Save the Cat” just codifies them for you so you can write your own. If your script DOESN’T conform to “Save the Cat,” it probably doesn’t work as a dramatic or comedic structure.
“The last big money making enterprise in Hollywood was Canon Films, run by Golan-Globus, who produced dozens of low budget, but high margin movies, 8 of 10 of which just needed to break even, with 1 or 2 of 10 being successful, to make them very rich.”
CANON FILMS?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. You mean the company that suckered up front production money from international buyers and used half to make their terrible movies, while the rest went in their pockets? That was a Ponzi scheme. Please name a successful Canon movie. And don’t say “Runaway Train” just because it got an Oscar nomination. It didn’t make money. None of their films made money at the U.S. box office, which is the only metric that counts. A studio that ends in bankruptcy after only a few years is not a success.
“So this is what conservative actors should do. And not in Hollywood and that disaster of a state, California, but somewhere else. A new film production center, with entirely different values.”
The most successful movies, the ones everyone in the U.S. and around the world wants to go see, come from Hollywood. That you’re mad at California for some reason doesn’t make this sound business advice.
Kevin Sorbo had his shot as a lead actor in a big film called “Kull the Conqueror.” It failed, and so did he as a leading man in movies.
Patricia Heaton works. Kelsey Grammar works. Nobody cares that Kevin Sorbo is a conservative. What he needs to do is be a better actor.
Um, no. That's kiddie punk entertainment drivel, not a class movie.
Sorbo has done some very good movies. I suspect they aren't your "type" of entertainment.
No need to get hostile or personal. You simply cannot dispute that “Kull the Conqueror,” whatever its genre or intended audience, was a big studio, big-budget, highly-promoted film in the vein (they hoped) of “Conan the Barbarian.” If it had been successful, Sorbo would have been offered the lead in other big studio films. It wasn’t, so he wasn’t.
By the way, Schwarzenegger built Conan — his own “kiddie punk” film debut — into a hugely successful film career, despite being a conservative, despite being a terrible actor, arguably much worse than Sorbo.
So why didn’t Hollywood blackball him? Because Arnold’s movies Make. Money. Tons and tons of money. That’s the only political affiliation Hollywood cares about.
And I like Sorbo. I especially liked him in “Meet the Spartans.” I think he’s off base when he blames his career woes on his religion.
