Our immediate neighborhood has red fox. Foxes and coyotes typically don’t prowl the same territory. Coyotes are north, south and east of here.

I hunt coyotes and wolves up here a lot.Coyotes here in the valley are such a nuisance there are regular warnings about leaving pets and livestock unattended or unsecured in any way.
Coyotes will jump right over those 5' CBS walls everyone has built around their homes. The feel initially like castle walls but do nothing to stop predators, only slow them down momentarily. A hungry 'yote will make fast food out of any small pet or animal left outside uncaged.
I will make the observation for additional impact. In all my time in the valley, I have not seen any roaming dogs or cats in my area. That's either a testament to the understanding of my neighbors of the threat or the hunting ability of these pests.

I have done that, too.
That was the night I knew I could never get a job on a bomb squad.
Too nervous.

We dispatched 3 coyotes on our ranch last week. Not good to have around your baby calves.

We saw a cat on the side of the road with a glass jar on it’s head. We broke the jar and the cat took off.

It was a plastic jar and a coyote. I really didn’t care.

The coyote lives, but who knows what it will kill next. I have to ‘guard’ my Yorkie outside at night time from critters like that.
Joe - as an aside - I laughed my head off at seeing your doggie ping image on the thread of the FReeper looking for a girlfriend!! ‘woof, woof’, lol.

I understand, I wouldn't really care either, but I would prefer a more humane death for the coyote. But I guess you weren't packin’.

Nope and it was in city limits. A cop rolled up soon but I don’t think they found it.
