I lived in Queens, NY in the 70s. The gay scene was rampant. Then the male homosexual bars in NYC had what they called ‘back rooms’ I believe they still do.
Men would go back there and have sex in the dark with any of the patrons of the back room. It was all the rage, they were often drunk and on drugs. The numbers back there would exceed those up in the front of the bar.
Most of us in NY knew all about it, is was so common a practice amongst the gay men. They bragged about it. It was their weekend obsession.
I’m sure that the hotel rooms are now an extension of those days.
Btw, at that time there was no ‘aids’...it was not discovered as yet, but it was brewing.

Slip something into the drink that knocks him out, pay the bartender to forget they were ever there, and carry him into a “bedroom” to complete the murder and stage the scene.

Hmm, despite the similarities you mention I think most folks, if given a choice, would choose the orgasm over the sneeze - with the exception of my ex-wife, of course. :-)
You haven't explained to me how an unconscious body could be dragged/carried out of a homosexual bar and carried into their attached hotel room without any patrons or employees noticing..........
