Kayla Reyes says she interviewed for a job on the sales floor at Fresno's Fashion Fair mall in February but was told that she wouldn't be able to relate to customers because she had seen combat.
Reyes, who enlisted in the military at the age of 17, claims that the interview took a turn for the worse when her 4-year army career came up and that the hiring manager said, 'Being that you've been over there, you wouldn't really know how to approach people.'

Really; many years ago I bought a pair of shoes at Macy’s because somebody gave me a gift card. It was a lot more than they would have cost in a “regular” store, but I had to use the card.

Now as part of the “new normal”, we have a new pawn shop nearby that will buy those cards...

Interesting.

Some friends just used Macy’s as one of their wedding registry stores and I could only shake my head. From the $350 roasting pan, to thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars of otherwise overpriced and/or unnecessary household items I figured I could outfit a household with the same items, at a perfectly fine quality, for literally one-tenth the cost on average—and some things for much less.

I’d imagine Macy’s is using the same logic as some areas here in northern NJ does with high property taxes (above and beyond the already-high taxes for which NJ is notorious) - it keeps the place clean. Macy’s shoppers can shop without the worry that they’ll run into filthy peons like me....

My nomination for quote of the day!

No, she said that the person who did her interview - the one who she says worried about her ability to deal with people - kept steering her to loss prevention, which pays more than ringing up a cash register.
