Police in Texas have said they believe that an 85-year-old died about a savage attack by two pit-bulls inside her own home on Monday.

Dorothy Hamilton was found by her son lying in the living room of her home in Kaufman along with two 'very large and aggressive' dogs.

Authorities said that her son had been keeping the dogs in a bedroom in the house for several months and they appear to have broken through the door and attacked Hamilton.

However, police have ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death as neighbors revealed the dogs have a history of violent behavior.

“Ridgebacks are hilarious! I know a couple who had a pair of the ...big goofy Ridgebacks”

A Ridgeback was the last dog that I had back in the US. He was as nice as any dog that I had ever owned. When I moved to Slovakia, I noticed that they were quite popular there.

By the way, Rhodesian Ridgebacks were bred for hunting lions.

Even tempered dogs dont get any press. Its always the troublemakers that have been bred for centuries as fighters.

I hope the police conduct a thorough investigation. I have no doubt that the dogs are capable of such an attack but I have to wonder about a son who puts his elderly mother in such danger. He knew these dogs were aggressive and he still put them with a women who would have no chance of fighting off an attack. He sounds like a real prize.

Amazing. they dont appear to have gotten “infected” in that process.

They seem to lack that hyper vigilant nervous slightly psychotic urge to be The Big Dog that one sees in dogs like the pit bull.

That’s pretty brave. I don’t think I would be reading a pit bull’s collar.

The owner of the dogs is guilty of animal abuse and manslaughter. Keeping two large dogs that require lots of training and exercise were neglected by being locked in a bedroom. The idiot son must have known the dogs were going nuts because any animal will respond aggressively when they are abused and neglected like that. It is VERY rare an animal just up and turns like that. Even the neighbors say the dogs were aggressive. Son is guilty of the death of his mother.

I really didn’t have a choice. I had no place to run so I started petting her. Like I said, it scared the crap out of me. But she was a sweet dog.

I used to live next door to one of Holder’s peeps who had a pit bull. I was afraid to take my dogs for a walk because sometimes he’d come out with his dog and sit on the porch. I was afraid the dog would come running after my dogs. I didn’t own a gun at the time.

The guy treated the dog horribly. Always hitting it. I was hoping the dog would turn on his ass.

I see you adequately addressed the fact that the son killed his mother...

I had 2 Rhodesian Ridgebacks a few years ago. Two of the best dogs I have ever had, not aggressive at all. Watchful and protective but not aggressive. I'd love to have another one someday.

Rhodesian Ridgebacks were raised to be family guardians as well as for hunting. Mine were from a pair brought from South Africa by a white South African who moved to Houston. All round good dogs.

Headline reads like SUV-hysteria/Climate-change-hysteria et al.
I’ll agree with the pitbull-hysteria on one condition:
For every pit bull eliminated we eliminate 1000 stupid humans. Sound extreme?
Nah: It wouldn’t even make a dent in STUPID ‘accidents’ ‘cause the rate would have to be an order of magnitude larger...

Animals don't have consciences and free will so they are the innocents. We humans haven't changed an iota. All the money, education, health and drugs don't make people better.

We are EXACTLY the same people that we were 50,000 years ago, though there are TONS MORE people on the earth (now 1.6 BILLION) and though we live longer, are healthier, eat better and are more educated than ever before in human history we are not ONE IOTA better or nicer.

Notice the large pendulous teats on those dogs.

Seems this fool was breeding these monsters. From that coupled with “keeping with mom” I’d investigate for dog fighting.

Shame.

Didn’t finish reading - fool man had MORE outside. Presuming they too were PBT types, definitely look at this fool for dog fighting.

I agree with your premise, but that statement is inaccurate.

50,000 years ago homo erectus was subject to the laws of natural selection. For most of the period up to & including the 19th century, that still held true.

Not so in the post-New Deal 20th Century. No natural selection. Worse, Stupid people breed. Worse even, most of them are on the left...

If that were so then why have stupid people survived all these millenia? According to your method of "natural selection" the stupids should have been weeded out thousands of years ago.

2013 dog bite fatalities ::

Information gathered by DogsBite.org is verifiable1 through Internet archive services. Our Fatality Citations section documents each source used in our dog bite-related fatality research.

2013 statistics

32 U.S. dog bite-related fatalities occurred in 2013. Despite being regulated in Military Housing areas and over 700 U.S. cities, pit bulls contributed to 78% (25) of these deaths. Pit bulls make up about 6% of the total U.S. dog population.2

Together, pit bulls (25) and rottweilers (1), the second most lethal dog breed, accounted for 81% of the total recorded deaths in 2013. This same combination accounted for 74% of all fatal attacks during the 9-year period of 2005 to 2013.

The breakdown between these two breeds is substantial over this 9-year period. From 2005 to 2013, pit bulls killed 176 Americans, about one citizen every 18.6 days, versus rottweilers, which killed 33, about one citizen every 99.5 days.

In the year of 2013, the combination of pit bulls (25), rottweilers (1) and bullmastiffs (2) accounted for 88% of all dog bite-related fatalities. Notably, the two bullmastiff-mixes3 were littermates that inflicted death within a 6-month period.

I wish that were true. At one time it was ‘in check’. Humans are hardy species, even fool-hardy. Say, for example, that 15% of the 1939 US population fell into that category (a reasonable number).

With decades of social liberal policies, based on lower-tier population propagation rates (US Nat’l rate is .9...we’ll use 2x that for this example, equivalent to the Phillipines), that 19 million would become +112 Million unto itself in 2014, ironically supporting the Bama ratio of voters.

And GROWING...

Abraham Lincoln quotes:

1. You can modify human behavior to some extent but you can't change human nature.
2. Most folks are as happy as they make up their mind to be.

=================================

There WILL be more fools, but that's because there are SO many more people. There sure won't be any less.
People won't get more/less stupid, nice, whatever.
Maybe Lincoln was wrong. My money is on HIM and HIS experience.
