Three rampaging pit bulls attacked three Bay Terraces residents and sent them scrambling for safety Tuesday morning before a San Diego police officer shot the dogs.

...

A 78-year-old retired Navy chief was bitten first, when he went outside to get his newspaper. The animals then charged a woman and bit her ankle before she could scale a neighbor’s 4-foot fence.

Then the dogs turned on 19-year-old Michael Ward, who stepped out of his Petal Drive house to find out why a woman was yelling.

“She was trying to get away from three large pit bulls,” Ward said. “Then they came chasing after me. One bit my thigh and one bit the side of my ribs.

...

pit bulls were responsible for 25 of the 32 fatal dog bites in the United States last year. Bull mastiffs and German shepherds were each blamed for killing two people.

“Read that as over 3/4 of all deaths by dog in the USA were via the pit bull model. Just wow. You just have to be ignorant to ignore that.”

True, but not the whole story. Who owned those dogs? Were they trained for illegal fighting? Were they treated badly on purpose to make them mean watch dogs?

It’s not the breed. It’s what has been done TO them by sub-humans. Most Pit Bulls live in loving homes with families and never bite anyone.

On the program “Animal Cops NY” they adopted out rescued Pit Bull after Pit Bull. Some could not be adopted as they had been fighting dogs. The vast majority were just in need of rescue. They made fine pets for many families.

It’s NOT the dog breed, it’s the HUMAN breed that makes them that way.

If they trained and fought Poodles instead of Pit Bulls, you would have the same results and you would all be about banning Poodles.

You need both the bad breed and the bad owner to get a real killer dog.
Bad Breed: Pit Bull.
Bad Owner: Angry, stupid person.
Put them together and you may get a child scarred for life by a dog attack.

:-) You really believe that? These pit bull threads provide interesting insights into how some people think.
