No limit to the stupidity of some people - who then get hurt and expect the rest of us to pay their medical bills.

#26 at link.

We need to start licensing the use of cellphones to make sure people know how/where/when to use them -- safely.

Some Many are just too stupid to be entrusted with them in public.

This is from my private collection, LOL. What could possibly go wrong??

My dad was an engineer and could fix or build anything but one thing he wouldn't "touch" was electrical wiring.

Agree, but pretty funny concept and right in line with the others that aren’t staged.

In my early years as an electrician I did some crazy things to try and climb to a spot I needed to get to. Stupid is as stupid does.

My brother told me that in the Indian Reservations it isnt uncommon to see that tried. They hook up and ZAP..all the electrical in their shacks melt down. That, and they have one person hook up legally to the grid and then run extension cords to his house. They figure that they get it free that way.

Yeah, that picture reminds me of my hubby, who is quite large but might still try a stunt like that.

Probably.

I had to chuckle at Rush L going on about some new iPhone app that allows 2 iPhones to connect without the Internet. He raved about how inventive, how unique, how essential. Then he stated that the 2 iPhones had to be within 30 feet of each other.

30 feet? One could yell at the other in that short of a distance!

I don't get 'texting'. To me, it is a giant step backward. Connecting 2 iPhones that are within 30 feet of each other doesn't seem like much of an accomplishment, either.

Look at my tagname. I have seen things worse than this, but was too busy screaming and firing people like this to get a photograph.. My boss, however, said he/she is a nice person, you should train them better.

Yelling isn't even limited to 30 feet, of course. But could that "yelling" include the transfer of digital photos, documents or video files or be stored for future use?

Connecting 2 iPhones that are within 30 feet of each other doesn't seem like much of an accomplishment, either.

Then, in the many year history of cell phones, why has no one, including you, ever been able to do it as elegantly as this until Apple?

Cell phones have been able to connect via bluetooth for a number of years, and with most Nextel phones people can actually talk to one another over some distance without benefit of the network.

We ham radio operators recognize those things as having been easily doable for about a hundred years (and exchanging files between computers for 30 of those years), and are not so impressed. I say get back to us when they can do that across an ocean without external infrastructure.

The Nextel thing is pretty trick, actually. They look and sound sort of like the Star Trek communicators, and the digital frequency hopping technology gives them pretty decent range for their size and power, confirms that each unit has been heard by the other, and makes the communication somewhat secure.
