Intrepid, pro-gun journalist Emily Miller is leaving the Washington Times and heading to greener pastures as the chief investigative reporter for WTTG, a Fox-owned station in Washington, D.C.

Miller, who will start the new gig on April 28, addressed the transition via her Facebook page on Friday, saying, “I’m just so excited.”

Apparently, FOX 5 is equally excited to bring the seasoned journalist and award-winning author into the newsroom for some hard-hitting stories.

“Emily’s tenacity and experience as a print reporter covering a wide range of issues makes her a fierce competitor and an asset for FOX 5,” WTTG general manager Patrick Paolini said in a statement. “We will count on her to ask the tough questions and are thrilled to welcome her to our news team.”

Miller, as senior editor of the Washington Times’ opinion pages, is no stranger to asking the ‘tough questions,’ her 2011 eye-opening exposé in the Washington Times, “Emily Gets Her Gun,” on D.C.’s incredibly stringent gun laws, revealed how obtaining a firearm in our nation’s capital is an arduous process that functions to discourage gun ownership amongst the law-abiding.

That exposé in the Washington Times became the foundational text for her book, “Emily Gets Her Gun: But Obama Wants to Take Yours,” which takes a more in-depth look at D.C.’s convoluted firearm registration process, as well as her journey into the gun community and the ongoing national debate over gun control.

“FOX 5 is giving me the opportunity to uncover corruption, investigate criminals and challenge the power structure in Washington,” said a delighted Miller in a press release. “I’m looking forward to working with such a talented team that brings D.C. the facts and insight into the stories that everyone is talking about, or should be talking about.”

Before working with the Washington Times, Miller worked for AOL’s Politics Daily as a senior editor of Human Events, in the D.C. offices of ABC News and as an associate producer for This Week and for Good Morning America.

Miller also served in President George W. Bush’s administration, serving as deputy press secretary at the U.S. Department of State. While there, she worked directly with Secretaries of State Colin L. Powell and Condoleezza Rice. would like to wish Ms. Miller the best of luck in her new role at FOX 5.

Gun nuts should forget calling people “pro-gun”. They are civil rights activists.
