Ivey has won nine World Series of Poker bracelets.

He compares himself on his website to Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods and Muhammad Ali.

Last year, he was accused of a similar scam in London for almost $12 million.

Looks to me that the casino was the one that screwed up by using defective cards. Not his fault that its quality control sucks, and plus, I don’t see how it can actually prove anything, period.

You hit the nail on the head.
SOME people do have runs of luck and/or are just really good AND lucky.

I hate hearing the casinos whine. They rake in so much money it's scary.

It sounds like the casino was using marked decks, and he figured out the system.

It is not cheating to benefit from a defect, even if proven, that the casino unwittingly put into play. That is the whole point in cards, to exploit any “tells” that exist.

Correctamundo. And it's the casino's job to catch defects and irregularities as they occur.

Trying to take action now is like a referee calling a penalty years after a game is over.

Better to just shut up and be more vigilant in the future.

No kidding. I get up 100-200 dollars playing blackjack the switch dealers, cut cards even switch decks. Freaking Crybabies!

And how many manned cameras did they have on a table game where someone is up a few million? I guarantee they were watching him with multiple people in real time.

That’s what always got me about card counting in blackjack. I don’t see that as cheating.

That’s the only game I play, because I can generally come out ahead... thanks to keeping track of whether the deck is heavy or light at any given time.

Exactly. So what did they do? Added more decks. Fine, but do not arrest people for figgering out how to benefit. That is a main driving force for people coming back—to beat the system.

Some Harvard-educated suit decided he might get himself a promotion by saving the casino a few bucks and going with a cheaper card manufacturer.

Oops!

It’s not considered cheating. But since card counters aren’t a “protected class” under federal law, the casinos can ban them from their premises.

For those who don't follow poker, many professional players consider Phil Ivey to be the best No Limit Hold ‘Em player in the world.

His success in tournament play is fourth best ever, behind just a couple guys like Phil Helmuth, Doyle Brunson, and Johnny Chan.

Ivey has a good chance of passing Chan and Brunson, who are both past their prime and have not won a bracelet in 10 years.

Phil Helmuth is 50 years old, 12 years older than Ivey.

Helmuth's play has become very inconsistent in recent years, but he can still play brilliantly at times, as he did in 2012 when he won the WSOP Europe.

Ivey is a dominant force in “cash” games, where ALL the chips and cash on the table are personal money, and where all the players are usually top level professionals.

Cash games require a completely different temperament than tournament games, where your maximum loss is only your entry fee.

Many professionals consider Ivey to be the most calm and most focused cash game player of all time.

I tried all three links.

Each one takes me to the news report.

Google the title exactly as written and see if that works.
