Same here. I was 16, and he was special, but it didn’t work out. And now 56 years later, knowing what I know about how he turned out, I’m glad it didn’t.

I remember hearing “Sleepwalk” on American Bandstand in 1964 as the British Invasion commenced. It sounded ancient at the time to a 15 year old, but now it’s a classic.

Could have sworn that Dick Clark introduced it as a 1957 oldie. The teenagers on the AB set made good use of its slowdance rhythm.
