Do you fix your green beans Southern style?

With butter, bacon, onion, chicken broth?

My wonderful wife says Southern cooks can take a perfectly harmless veg and make it into a heart attack on a plate. Yep, but they’re great! I’d rather die happy than give up everything good in life. :) YMMV

Various recipes. I lie them with ham. If I don’t have ham, I add ham base seasoning, olive oil, onions, parsley, garlic, salt and pepper. Sometimes I add in a few potato chunks.

I used to use bacon a lot, but when Hubby started watching his fat content, we quit keeping it except for a little sprinkle now and then as a condiment. I can’t eat it, because it causes my gallbladder to act up, and gives me heartburn.

Sometimes I buy a pack of bacon, and fry it up all at once, then stick it in the freezer to use for BLT sandwhich once we get some big home grown tomatoes.
