JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WJXT) - A pregnant woman is in critical condition after being shot in an argument that started on Facebook, Jacksonville police told WJZT.
Police were called to the shooting in the 9100 block of Castle Boulevard in Northwest Jacksonville about noon.
They said two women got into an argument on the social media site Tuesday night, and the pregnant woman went to the home of the other, 35-year-old Virginia Wyche, Wednesday to discuss the disagreement, WJXT reports.
Police said the dispute turned physical, and Wyche shot the pregnant woman.
I know the victim was definitely shot in the abdomen. That's the one gun shot that I know of. That's why the consideration and concern for the unborn child's health," said Homicide Sgt. Michael Paul.
Lillian Jordan said she is the suspect's mother. She said she is just as confused about the shooting at her family's home as anyone else.
"My son called me and I was very disturbed about this because this is not the way I was raised, and they (were) not raised like this," said Jordan. "Somebody had to provoke my child ... to do what she (did). I don't know if she was trying to defend herself, or if they (were) trying to jump on my child, I can't say."

A 35-year-old Jacksonville woman is charged with attempted murder after a pregnant woman was shot in the stomach, according to the Sheriffs Office.
The unborn child died after the shooting.
Virginia Denise Wyche, 35, is accused of shooting 23-year-old Makeisha Nicole Brooks outside the front door of Wyches Northwest Jacksonville home on Castle Boulevard after Brooks slapped her in the face, according to police.
Police said Brooks was six months pregnant and her unborn child did not survive. The last update on Brooks condition listed her in critical condition
. The women live on the same street and were acquaintances, according to Wyches arrest report.
According to police, the argument started on social media. Brooks went to Wyches home about 12 p.m. Wednesday to discuss the disagreement.
The arrest report said Wyche admitted pulling a gun from her waistband and shooting Brooks after Brooks slapped her in the face.
Wyche is being held in the Duval County jail in lieu of $1 million bail.
The Sheriffs Office and the State Attorneys Office wouldnt discuss whether Wyche could be charged in the death of the unborn child.
However, it is possible for murder charges to be brought against a defendant when an unborn child is killed.
Andrew Wayne King, 28, was convicted in September of two counts of first-degree murder, including an unborn child. King stabbed Felicia Burney to death in June 2010. Burney was nine months pregnant when she died. Her unborn child also died in the attack. King was sentenced to life in prison.
