The 10 Most Fattening and Decadent Foods From Around the World
News ^ | APRIL 25, 2014

YOU might think that the United States, with its supersized portions, absurdly high obesity rate, and uniquely American innovations like the Doritos Locos Taco, is home to the world’s most fattening foods. But you’d be wrong!

Their national dishes have nothing on these artery-clogging bad boys from around the world. Here are 10 of the most decadent foods you’ll find in other countries.

Acaraje, Brazil

You know what’s really not great for you? Palm oil. A mere tablespoon of the stuff contains a whopping 7 grams of saturated fat — which is too bad, because saturated fat makes food taste really great.

Case in point, Brazil’s acaraje: black-eyed peas formed into a ball, deep-fried in palm oil, and then stuffed with vatapa and caruru (spicy pastes made from dried shrimp, ground cashews … and more palm oil).

Churros, Spain

Forget your boring breakfast of Special K and skim milk. In Spain, a popular way for locals to start the day is with a meal of churros.

These fried-dough pastries are dipped in sugar and cinnamon and then — here’s the fat kicker — dipped in a thick hot-chocolate drink. Talk about a morning sugar rush!

The bun is the only part that’s bad for you.

There is nothing in this that I can't have on my low carb diet.

Best for you from these:
1. Red Palm Oil (rich in E tocotrienals-best to not heat up - far better than Vitamin E tocopherols)
2. Coconut oil (rich in Medium Chain Triglycerides)
3. Palm oil
4. (Way down at the bottom) Palm kernel oil

What a load of unmitigated, ignorant crap.

Saturated fat is good for us. It's the other crap that makes you fat. The nutritionists won't admit it yet [they're as stupid as the client scientists], but millions of Americans are learning it on our own.

Yeah, and when it was determined to be bad, palm oil, which can be solid at room temperature, along with good ol' lard, was replaced with trans-fats, which are undisputedly far worse.

Myself, I prefer the luscious cheese and almond bear claws at my local Publix' Danish Bakery.

I will ask for one of these with my last meal before I'm offed by Obama's thugs for being a conservative.

You think they are going to offer any of us a last meal? They are more likely to kill us with malnutrition, if not outright starvation.

Just like with decent medical care. our compassionate overlords will tell us that if we want it, we better be ready to pay for it,assuming there is anything to pay for that you want to eat.

Just like in “Game of Thrones”, we’ll consider ourselves fortunate to get a “bowl of brown”.

I was in the 8th grade the first time that was addressed to me. I took it to heart.

Thanks for noticing!

He puts miso ramen on the list by saying the soup is made of beef, lard and oil. No, it’s usually a pork stock that’s no more greasy than any other meat stock. The calories come from the miso, but there’s no more fat in a bowl of miso ramen than is in a bowl of chicken noodle soup.

I made my husband and myself deep-fried Twinkies, with a squirt of chocolate on top. Loved it, not that it will be a habit.

I hear other deep-fried Hostess treats can be good. I have all the supposedly perfect copycat recipes, though the authors subbed real food- like butter, cream, organic flour, etc., for the chemical faux food ingredients in the commercial versions. I have not tried them yet. ;)

I am thin and in good shape. An outrageous dessert on occasion is not a sin, just slightly naughty.
