Alton Brown Makes Dog Treats That Taste Like Cat Poop [video]
Food Network Gossip ^ | May 1, 2014

In Alton Brown's latest video of his web series Cook Smart, he shares a recipe for dog treats meant to mimic the taste of cat poop.

-snip-

The trick to making them stinky is fish sauce.  Hopefully not too many people are making homemade treats for their dog, but if you are, here is the recipe.  Or you could just take a short cut and add fish sauce to store bought treats.

AB is the best. If I ever want a go to recipe for anything, I first check for one from him. He’s just better than the rest.

OR you could make friends with some cat owners and offer to clean out their litter boxes! Why would you go for artificial cat poop when the reason thing is available? Your dogs would love you even more.:)

My dogs prefer rabbit poop and they can find in right in our back yard.

My late JRT loved the litterbox snackbar. The fact that she had to dig for her treats was an enjoyable bonus.

[I did not endorse this behavior, but I also couldn’t do a whole lot about it.]

On a related note...there is a company that makes a product that makes excrement taste bad. What a country!

I make my dogs home made treats after having a bad experience with Mothers Hubbard ones. Pretty easy to make and just 12 minutes @350 in the oven- then turn oven off and crack the door open a bit with a wooden spoon and let them sit in there until the oven is cool. That way they get crunchy.I use ground oatmeal, honey, crunchy peanut butter, a little whole milk, some bacon fat and a little unbleached flour for one flavor and then switch out the PB and honey ingredients and replace with cheddar cheese and a little garlic powder for another type. I keep them in the fridge. My dogs love them and I feel better knowing what’s in them for the most part.
