Alton Brown Makes Dog Treats That Taste Like Cat Poop [video]
Food Network Gossip ^ | May 1, 2014

In Alton Brown's latest video of his web series Cook Smart, he shares a recipe for dog treats meant to mimic the taste of cat poop.

-snip-

The trick to making them stinky is fish sauce.  Hopefully not too many people are making homemade treats for their dog, but if you are, here is the recipe.  Or you could just take a short cut and add fish sauce to store bought treats.

"Exactly! How does AB know what cat poop tastes like?"

Easy! He asked these guys to taste test it for him.

That, or he just licked Justin Bieber.

Oh, they’re probably eating all that other stuff just to get to the bacon grease.

I had this problem with my dogs and solved it. The automatic litter box is in the guest john on the main floor of my house. I keep the cat’s food and water there too. To solve the problem and give the kitty privacy from my two large dogs (85 lb. & 110 lb.), I put a small screw in the side of the door frame and left about 1/2 inch, including the head, protruding. Then I attached a fairly heavy string with a loop in the end to the door knob. The string is about 6 in. long, enough to let the cat in, but not the dogs, when the loop is placed over the protruding end of the screw. Problems of feline privacy and canine poop eating solved.

Looks your whole family, dogs included, might love them. I sometimes ate Milkbones when I was kid.

Back a few years ago, when I had cats, I had a small litter box room with a kitty door that the dogs didn't enter. They were JRT’s and probably could have gotten through it, but they didn't.

Maybe they liked the rabbit poop that much more.

The JRT crew I have now are not familiar with cats or cat poop. We haven’t had a cat in many years.

Write to him c/o Food Network? Or via the Food Network magazine? The magazine has a monthly column in which you ask your favorite chef a question and they will answer it.

I can tell you personally, I’ve been to a taping of one of their shows and they are really nice.

Oh, I guess you could always tweet him
