Man trying to rob donut shop shot by police

ATLANTA —

An armed robbery suspect is in custody after police say he tried to rob a donut shop in southwest Atlanta.

The incident happened at the Dunkin' Donuts near the intersection of Ralph D Abernathy Boulevard SW and Cascade Avenue SW just before 10 p.m. Saturday.

Police told Channel 2 that while the man was trying to rob the shop, a police officer arrived at the scene. The suspect tried to flee, but was shot in the arm by the officer, police said.

Following the shooting, the man jumped into a car, but crashed two blocks away from the scene. He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Trying to get traffic straightened out before a Nationals game, two members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department were directing traffic in semi-dark conditions, while wearing their very dark blue uniforms. I saw one police “officer” direct traffic such that one car would have run over the second distinguished /sarc/ member of the force if not for the better judgment of the driver.

All that remains is for him to get elected to Kongress as representative from Georgia's 4th Kongressional district (seat currently held by Hank Johnson). As you say he's got the stupid part down, and I'm sure he's the right race.

There was an even stupider criminal also in Washington state, IIRC. Sometime back in the 80’s, before government employees were on direct deposit, he tried to rob a bank just around the corner from the Seattle FBI office. On payday. Virtually every customer in line was an FBI agent waiting to deposit his paycheck.
