Weird, but how big is it?

No idea, but it does seem to have some left/right symmetry.
It just doesn't look natural compared to the rest of the image, stands out.

Don't know, but that picture sure looks like sandy silt left over once the water totally receded.
It almost looks like there are several different erosion layers caused by decreasing water flow over time, shades of a little Grand Canyon and then the big *dry up*.
